Description

Yes! Amla contains folate, calcium, vitamin C and vitamin A, which is excellent for pregnant women. Still, you can consult your doctor before consuming to clear your doubts. To avail Dry amla benefits for constipation, take 1 teaspoon of Amla every night with warm water. Good for hair

Amla antioxidants have also been associated with improvements in the antioxidant status in humans. A recent clinical trial with smokers (randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled design) also supports the role of amla fruit as a relevant option of natural antioxidants [ 42]. In this study, a significant reduction in the peroxidation level and increased antioxidant status were observed in subjects that consumed 250 mg (twice a day) for 60 days. Another clinical trial with subjects diagnosed with metabolic syndrome (randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled design) indicated that consuming either 250 or 500 mg capsules (twice a day) for 12 weeks reduced the lipid peroxidation levels and induced GSH levels [ 43]. Conversely, the consumption of 125 mg capsules (4 capsules/day) had non-significant effects on the antioxidant status in healthy subjects (randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, and crossover design) [ 6]. The hair benefits of amla are time-tested. Also, amla works on both women and men, regardless of age. Whether you are a teenager eating junk and partying hard and then worrying about bad hair day, or an ambition driven adult losing hair, or god-knows-why greying person, amla will solve your hair crises. Amla doesn’t discriminate, it helps everyone. But, don’t just rely on amla, if your lifestyle is crappy, sort it out or even the potent amla will be rendered useless. One example of the protective effect of amla fruit bioactive compounds against oxidative damage is the study carried out by Shivananjappa and Joshi [ 35] in HepG2 cells. These authors observed that total antioxidant capacity (ABTS method) was improved after 4 h of exposure to different concentrations of extract (25, 50 and 100 μg/mL). The peroxidation level was significantly reduced after 8 h of exposure to 50 and 100 μg/mL of extract. Moreover, the antioxidant defense system was induced (GSH, SOD, CAT, GPx, GSH reductase, and GSH S-transferase) after 12–24 h of exposure to 50 and 100 μg/mL of extract. Similar results were reported in a study with RAW 264.7 cells with up to 100 μg/mL of the extract [ 36]. Particularly for isolated compounds, ethyl gallate was indicated as the most efficient antioxidant (10–50 µM) to reduce oxidative damage in PC12 cells [ 32]. These studies indicate that amla phytochemicals can exert antioxidant activity by limiting the formation of oxidation products, increasing antioxidant status, and also inducing the endogenous antioxidant defense system. Particularly for clinical trials, the effect is promising to prevent oxidative induced by lifestyle (smoking) or the management of diseases (metabolic syndrome).

Medicinal Properties of Amla

You can easily consume dry amla because it boosts the metabolism, which ultimately helps to burn fat and results in weight loss. About ToneOp

After shampooing, pour the amla water slowly. Massage it into your scalp and hair and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then rinse out with water. Repeat twice a week. Research has shown that a potent anti-diabetic property of amla fruit is attributed to the presence of various health promoting compounds such as: ODI World Cup: The traits that make Rohit Sharma the captain, and how he differs from his predecessors Kohli and Dhoni International Journal of Pharmaceutics: "Current Trends in the Research of Emblica officinalis (Amla): A Pharmacological Perspective." Amla is an important ingredient of Rasayana (rejuvenating) ayurvedic medicines. It is added in commonly used ayurvedic medicine including Chyawanprash, Brahma Rasayana, Dhatri Rasayan, Amalaki Rasayana etc. What is Amla?

Potential Benefits

Don’t worry if you can’t find fresh amla, you can also eat them in dried form. Since amla contains tannins, one of the phenolic compounds, they tend to preserve the vitamin C and other goodness of amla. You can take amla powder mixed in warm water or eat the candied or salted amla. (More on how to eat amla here.) How to Take: Amla Juice should be mixed in a glass of water and 1 to 2 tsp. honey should be added. Drink this on empty stomach in the morning. If one experiences some abdominal discomfort due to juice after taking it on empty stomach, then he/she should take it after food mixing with 1 to 2 tsp. of honey without water. Best Amla Recipes: The age-old science of Ayurveda heavily depends on the use of plants and herbs for their medicinal properties. It wouldn't be wrong to say that Ayurveda paved the way for a few items to become an integral part of our daily diet. Amla or Indian Gooseberry is one such ingredient that has long been hailed for its health benefiting properties. If you live in countries where amla grows, they are in season from October to March. I have seen fresh amla in most of the Indian stores in the UK. I would assume they should be available in other countries with a large Indian population.
