I should have known that when you’re working for a company that promises to “disrupt” things, they might just mean your life.”

Thank you to Hachette Audio, Forever and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own. My stomach churned at the thought of digging into my ancestry. There were some things we just didn’t talk about in my family, the main one being my birth father. Lola looked like a sex bomb. But she always looked like a sex bomb, even when she was on my couch in her NYU sweats and streaky day- old mascara, inhaling a Gatorade and an egg- and- cheese on a bagel after a raging night out.’

Series Info

Produced by Decode Entertainment, Franny's Feet is children-aimed and centers on how upbeat is the initial exploration.

His obvious addiction to Morphine is the primary problem, but the film decides that he has more and more problems as the narrative unfolds, and it becomes mind bendingly awkward as to what his motivation is, and why Franny has all these ulterior motives. Do you know any of the songs at least?” I asked, truly horrified. “Something something summer romance, something something at the high school dance?” he guessed, shimmying slightly in his seat, dancing along to a totally botched attempt at “Summer Nights.” Franny’s dad is worried about her. He can’t help feeling that one day she is going to find herself in a lot of trouble, and quite possibly hurt herself in the process. Hayes Montgomery III is just trying to do the right thing when he helps a woman on the subway. He doesn’t think much about the incident until a video of their interaction shows up online and goes viral. The acting all around was good, but it needed a story resolution to make everything complete. (5/10)Second, the actual act of reading was fun, the entire book was as alliterative as possible and it made the whole thing read in a bouncy way. If that makes sense. If I give you an example “’That was some fierce flying Franny,’ Fred flattered”. The entire book revolves around the letter ‘F’ so it flowed nicely, made a creative read and gives the book a challenging edge for young readers. Another thumbs up. Franny Doyle has just been let go from her designer job in New York City due to downsizing. On her way home from work, during one of the most embarrassing moments of her life, she meets a man who helps her on the subway. In a New York Minute was exactly the book my heart needed. It was hilariously relatable and an ode to love in all its forms. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one after hearing about it and jumped at the chance to read it early. I haven’t been this consumed by a book in a while and I did not want to put this one down once I started. This book was everything I think a book for kids should be. The framework was nice and simple, a story about a little firefly, getting into a lot of dangerous situations, learning her lessons about being careful and playing with her firefly friends.

The meet-cute— no spoiler to be found here, read the book!— in this story and the author truly engaging voice made it near impossible to put the book down!No one imagines that the super successful interior design start-up they work for—you know, the one that had a massive hiring blitz four years ago, keeps fridges full of organic cold-pressed juices, has beanbag chairs in all the conference rooms, and hosts weekly rooftop happy hours—will lay off half their staff in a matter of forty-five minutes." I’ll close on what I think is the line I most despised in a book composed almost entirely of lines I despised:

Did I mention lots and lots of laughs?! Like “I accidentally woke up my husband snort laughing” kind of laughs and plenty of second hand embarrassment to go around. My ability to read romance novels seems to be on the fritz recently and sadly for this new release, it wasn’t an exception to the rule. Despite having a pretty decent meet/cute moment, the majority of my notes include things like “eye roll!!!!!” after reading . . . . To clarify, I’m not a total masochist. I start every romance novel hoping it’s my next The Blue Castle. Whether the vast quantities of novels that fail to clear that bar is about me, or about the romance publishing industry, I leave it to history to decide. We got the feeling that much of the story was not told. Hence we are in the middle of the story with no resolution in sight. All this causes us to wonder why this movie was made in the first place. Of course we can read into the last scene and make up the ending, but would we be right? Hmmmmm………Franny is a fearless firefly. It’s stated in the first sentence of this lovely picture book. And then we get to see all sorts of wonderful displays of Franny’s fearlessness. The film was written a vehicle for Richard Gere in the role of Franny. But all of the character developments are sketchy, as the scenario is built around Gere's emotional outbursts. The thankless role of Poodles is played by Dakota Fanning, who never fully realizes that Franny was responsible for the auto accident that killed her parents when he was smoking marijuana and horsing around in the car. ugh, I feel bad now. Like that was harsh... Anyways, as always, just because a book wasn't for me, doesn't mean it won't be for you! A stranger has been filming them during all this chain of events. Without their permission, he showed the audacity to post the whole event on the internet. Their video went viral, and they became social media sensations overnight. Before we learn what was just mentioned above we got the feeling this may be quite an uncomfortable movie with the possibility of Franny making moves on Olivia who is many years his junior. That doesn't happen, but that was our take early on as we were squirming every which way on the couch hoping that didn't happen.
