Description

Basically a director's cut of Persona 5 with tons of additions and quality of life improvements and gameplay tweaks similar to Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 FES. Makes Persona 5 (original) obsolete. As part of the announcement that Persona 5 Royal will be coming to Xbox, it was also revealed that it will be available on Xbox Game Pass. So if you have Game Pass, you can play it at no additional cost. No PS4-to-PS5 Upgrade Path

Added a 3rd semester with new palace. Contains 20-30 hours to gameplay. Prepare for an all-new RPG experience in Persona 5 Royal based in the universe of the award-winning series, Persona! Don the mask of Joker and join the Phantom Thieves of Hearts The quality of life improvements from P5 are amazing. I havent finished the game yet but the new story and character stuff added so far is fantastic. P5R is definitely the definitive way to play Persona. 10/10 game.

Palaces rework (now have grappling hook ability). Core layout is the same, but they added new rooms/areas A community for the Persona game series, a spinoff series from the Megami Tensei series published by Atlus. Discussions related to the main series and its spin offs can be found here. Though the overall schedule is a lot more forgiving than 3's, so if you want to prioritize getting the ones you need that shouldn't be an issue at all. You might need a guide if you want to max out every one of them on one playthrough (but even then, you do have some wiggle room) but in terms of what impacts the ending there's not really anything to worry about. Finally, Vooks awarded the game a 9/10 and highlighted the gameplay and presentation, but stated that the game is "too damn long" (we respectfully disagree): I'm a newcomer to the franchise, and I know a bit of Persona from anime clips and viewing the manga's. I want to play the games some time down the road.

Persona 5 Royal | SteelBook®

Glad the port is excellent. Maybe… maybe… I’ll get through the game one day on Switch. It’s just such a long game… CGMagazine gave Persona 5 Royal a score of 9/10 and called it "one of the best Switch ports to date": Even for the most seasoned Phantom Thieves among us, Persona 5 Royal is a new challenge to defy conventions, discover the power within, and fight for justice Kasumi: Joins your party post game chapter. She does show up during the main game as if she was there all along in the original. Overall, the core story is the same with addition of a new trimester chapter, side stories and activities; but there are tons of refined elements that makes the game more approachable than the first. I played Persona 3 on the PS2 and enjoyed it but IIRC I didn't love the fact the you had to basically follow a guide for the best outcome. While the game was good, I'd rather be able to just play it instead of worrying about what choices I make. Does this relate to Persona 5 or can you just enjoy the game and get a good (best) ending? Also wish they did a physical for Persona 4 as well.

P5R Steelbook Edition or Ultimate Edition? Should I go for the P5R Steelbook Edition or Ultimate Edition?

This game is massive. It's beautiful, has style in every corner and the gameplay is so finely tuned. The music is great, the characters are awesome and the story is epic. It's one of the first JRPGs I've really sunk some time into and I'm worried it's ruined all the others for me. I'm not even a JRPG guy or even an really RPG guy, but this game is in my all time top 10 with God of War, FF7 Remake, Nier Automata, GTA5, Half-Life 2, Gears of War and a few others. But WARNING: It is very, very long, but totally worth it. Also, the first few (3-8 hours?) are kinda slow and you gotta push through. But once you're past the introductory/tutorial portion of the game and you understand the cycles and mechanics, it'll become one of the greatest games you'll ever play. Great mature content. Right out of the gate the game delves into deep issues of abuse of power and assault. It only gets more twisted and scary from there. It's neat. The game is often light-hearted too so you get a break, but when it gets dark it goes hard. Balance changes: confusion and status effect times are nerfed. You can't do burger challenge to get early stat boost at start of game

I have a love-hate relationship with the Persona games. On the one hand I love the concept. The central idea of people awakening to their inner demons and using those demons to gain power is a neat twist on heroes. On the other hand, the games commit every trope of the Japanese RPG genre. Very light spoilers about the tone of the first act of the game, no specifics.
