It doesn’t really strike me as iris, though I’ve been testing some high end iris lately so maybe my senses changed and I just can’t find it here.

Le Bain--but the vetiver is so deep and rich that it smells a little smoky without smelling like incense or oud. I’m one of those people who cannot handle the lavender in Mon Guerlain, so when I found that this was similar but without the lavender, I was on board. I think some are perceiving cigarettes because it has a frankincense type quality in the drydown (perhaps a combination of leather, vetiver, and sage), though the vanillic element is a bit stronger.Update: the dry down is beautiful, mostly vanilla and vetiver…not sure what “velvet” smells like, but the dry down definitely has that texture. In the first couple of minutes I can smell the powdery aromatics with soft herbal and faint fruity touches, and already vanilla is there. I have been layering this with Ambroxan (not Molecule 2 -- a cheaper alternative from Etsy), and it does improve the projection and longevity a little. Wondering if it might fit for a film noir type of vibe I could relate to; it kind of is, in an updated, retro, less complicated way, not really very dark, deep or mysterious, and the most recent, youngest scent I own. The bergamot, sage, and jasmine make a simply lovely first impression; and base notes of lily-of-the-valley and vanilla truly bring this scent together for a sexy, mysterious, even witchy scent.

It goes from a herbal 'hey I think I've smelled this in the salt room of a sauna once' to a familiar and generic sweet vanilla scent in just a few minutes. will not make anyone stand out, should I have smelled it on someone else, would have thought it was one of the Victoria's secret or some drogerie perfume. Like someone else mentioned this smells as if you hugged a man and his cologne intermingled with your scent. I don’t get the cigarette dipped in vanilla as some reviewers stated, but it does remind me of sweet tobacco smoke, like old men who smoke a pipe ( think Sherlock Holmes ) but so does MG. It doesn't literally remind me of Coco Noir, but is has that feeling and smells suitable to be in an opaque black bottle.

This is like the best Mon Guerlain flanker ever if, like me, you love a Tonka bean and vanilla type sweet scent. A wonderful aromatic vanilla with a little edge to it and I can only say +++ to ShoGirls review below! I wanted to use it as a topper in conjunction with MG, like to spray heavily on clothing after already spraying, wearing and marinating in MG on the skin. I’m terrible explaining notes, but I assure you if you like dark, sexy, warm perfumes you may enjoy Guess Seductive Noir. I get an almost bitter vanilla extract smell that I like after the first hour or so, but at that point its a skin scent on me that vanishes soon after.An affordable signature scent that reminds me of Mon Guerlain which is a strong lavender mature scent.
