Each of our flagship beers features a stream-of-consciousness style canvas, delving into the character, the story and personality - fictional, abstract and intertwined with the liquid inside. You actually only get a small sense of the scale of this from the can itself, so like others in the range, you’ll see this start to expand into various crops for special releases over time. In theyears since we launched Lumina, the beer has become our best selling and probably most requested, most well known beer. At the time of writing (August 2023) we have sold just shy of 100,000 cans via our webshop making it our best selling beer, outselling Broken Dream and and Yu Lu combined!

Although stout and porter are very similar, stout is darker and heavier, with a rich, creamy head. It’s flavoured and coloured by barley. Slightly sweeter to the taste than porter, stout also uses a portion of unmalted roasted barley, leading to some delicious, toasted flavours such as chocolate, coffee, oatmeal or cream. Pilsner The JSESSIONID cookie is used by New Relic to store a session identifier so that New Relic can monitor session counts for an application. The Siren Craft Brew range is firmly rooted in Greek mythology. It is said the sirens’ voices entwine into a complex, layered melody, and so do the ingredients that go into making great beer. Beer52 have kindly presented us with a number of awards over the years including Best IPA for Soundwave and Best Session IPA for "Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere" We start with Activate Deadline Mode (the name is inspired by this video that is very close to home). It’s the latest in a line of IPAs we’ve been developing using techniques learnt during last year’s Time Hops project. This one features Citra and Simcoe in abundance, with good body, a soft mouthfeel and crucially, a rouse of resinous, sappy bitterness that we love so much in IPA.The controversial and unusual campaigncame at a difficult time for the brewing industry, with a number of breweries sadly closing their doors in the past year. However,we'recommitted to supporting causes close to the hearts of our team and customers. Lumina is an epiphany moment for Siren, a coming together of experience, experimentation and evolution to create our most accessible session beer ever, with poise and adventure of universal appeal. It’s that feeling of epiphany that first sparked the ‘energy’ of this design. A central burning energy source emanates movement across the canvas, with themes of luminosity and navigation weaving in and out of the sky.

At the beginning of 2020 they kindly agreed to help us launch Lumina in cans, little did we all know that the Lumina launch would only be in cans, with no pubs allowed to open at the time. In fact, Beer52 was a crucial outlet to breweries in that time, and managed to scale with the increasing demand. Some 18 months later, Lumina officially became our best selling beer. Beyond the numbers, it’s a journey through Siren past and present. The team at Ferment have put together a beautiful accompanying magazine, rich with behind the scenes access and interviews with collaborating breweries. The collaborations extend beyond the beer, with our design direction also coming from those breweries, which we think look incredible all together. We’ve been able to work with old friends (including ex-Head Brewers), new acquaintances and a couple of breweries who for some reason we’ve never worked with before, but found the perfect excuse here. Lumina was an epiphany moment for Siren, a coming together of experience, experimentation, and evolution to create our most accessible session beer ever, with poise and adventure of universal appeal. It’s that feeling of epiphany that first sparked the ‘energy’ of the Lumina personality. Siren's epiphany of a session beer drinks with a pillowy soft mouthfeel and pours with a beautiful light haze. In its brewing process and ingredients, Siren Craft Brew uses only the crème de le crème of malts (Marris Otter), hops (dry and kettle varieties are used at different stages of the brew for optimum flavour and aroma) and yeast (Vermont) for Lumina. Marris Otter, which is considered the ‘Rolls Royce’ of Both flaked and malted oats. Siren decided to use a combination of oats to add depth and volume to the body to ensure a smooth and soft sensation when drinking. The oats make up approximately 15% of the grist

Broken Dream still takes pride of place in our Flagship range, although we made the decision to retire Liquid Mistress. Whilst Broken Dream and Soundwave have been long term mainstays, we’ve never been afraid to keep things fresh. Over time we’ve added Calypso, and Yu Lu, and who knows what the future holds? This is a refreshing, crisp and light yellow lager with a bitter, hoppy flavour. Pilsner originated in the Czech Republic and tends to be light in colour, ranging from light straw to golden, with strong hoppy, spicy and floral flavours. Some of the most iconic beers derive from the pilsner style, including Budweiser. Wheat beer excludes Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands & Islands, and the Isles of Wight, Man and Scilly - please see below) Our founder, Darron said: “It’s a real challenge as a small business right now to cut through, whether that’s getting into pubs where the big brewers have tied up all the access and restricted choice for consumers, or online where we see the big social media platforms unwilling to show our followers organic posts. #LuminaHour is an example of what can be achieved when the amazing beer community comes together, raising an incredible amount of money in the process.” Our Best Bitter is pretty hard to come by these days. It’s largely reserved for cask, naturally, with our very own George & Dragon pub being top of the list for takers. We enjoy it in cans a lot though, not least because dosing with nitrogen actually gives it a profile which is not dissimilar to drinking the beer on cask in your local pub. It’s smooth, slightly creamy, and the muted carbonation somehow gives the roasted malts space to open up. The secret ingredient is a touch of Cascade in the dry hop.Lumina, however, started life long before that blog. It was in 2019 that we identified a gap between 3.6% Yu Lu and 5.6% Soundwave. Our ever popular rotational hop series, “Suspended in…” had been gracing keg and cask pumps for some time and we wanted something like that in the flagship lineup. So broadly, Lumina draws inspiration from the celestial world. As the stars have fascinated, inspired and guided us throughout the ages, we designed this beer to be the shining light of our flagship range that you can always look towards.” Lumina helps to prove that it's definitely not the same for beer. In fact, when launched we provided bars with the option of kegs badges - one that said "Gluten Free Session IPA" and one that said "Session IPA". Some people were deterred by the GF classification. On June 12th, 2020, we wrote about The Value of Flagship Beers. It was the first public step with a nod towards a change to the flagship range. In it, we spoke of how the industry is geared towards new, exciting beers and an ever-changing lineup of possibilities. We have no issue with this. That desire for difference inspires our creativity and our drive and ultimately lead to us releasing over 88 unique beers in 2020. We think that’s probably more than anyone’s ever done, feel free to correct us on that! With pubs only opening outdoors initially, it was largely a case of pints in the rain. Thank goodness for large Lumina parasols! Thanks to places like the Ten Tun Tap House in Alton and The Nags Head in Reading amongst many others for providing the ultimate beer gardens for Lumina pints!

Amber Ale with a complex grain bill bringing bready malt flavour with hints of dark caramel, honey and rye spice, combined with a West Coast US hop character, as Simcoe and Amarillo hops provide bright stone fruit and orange citrus notes. Since our conception, having a flagship range has been at the core of our output and a hugely important part of our identity. It’s well known that ‘Maiden’ was our first ever brew, but did you know that the 2nd brew was Broken Dream, and the 3rd was Liquid Mistress. Brewed to raise funds and awareness for the homeless charity Only A Pavement Away. Made with the finest English Maris Otter Pale ale malt which has a distinctive copper pale colour, and a rich malty base to showcase the finest American hops.

Later in 2020, and with recipe, name, design and everything else set, we were heading towards our launch date of June 19th. We’re perhaps best known for the more creative and boundary pushing brewing, working with producers of all shapes and sizes, experts in their fields who can bring the same passion for ingredients, whatever that may be, as we have for beer. But experimenting aside, we’re also big proponents of the concept of core beers.” The big hitter of the box, Double Digits is a dank and delicious Double IPA. It’s a great example of how hop combinations can be put together, as Strata and Citra bring the fruit punch, Hallertau Blanc adds mid-notes and depth with light grape and gooseberry, Mosaic helps with tropical tones and dank aromas, while Chinook gives the beer the piney ‘edge’ that we’re looking for. It’s a challenge to make sure these beers aren’t too sweet, so the hops are crucial in that, with enough bitterness to balance things out against the malts and alcohol. We’re delighted with it, and what a pleasure to work with Protokoll in Berlin, who’s bar we’ve been long time fans of.
