BEES was first published in hardcover on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 in the U.S.A., Canada, U.K., and Germany. A Spanish-language edition was first released in Spain on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Information on Global Publication Dates. In interviews, Diana has described the shape of Bees (all of her Outlander books have a shape in her mind) as a snake. I could see it and feel it as I read; the plot is sinuous and curving with the head of the snake at the end. Diana also gave some hints as to the events in Bees in interviews. I wouldn't go so far as to call them spoilers, but I was correct in my predictions as to some of the events based on her comments. It was probably a good thing that I had a hint as to what was coming, because my anxiety was high enough while reading parts of this! Although the practice of telling the bees is most commonly associated with funerals, in some regions the bees are to be told of happy events in the family, particularly weddings. In Westphalia, Germany, one custom held that newly married couples going to their new home must first introduce themselves to the bees or "their married life will be unfortunate." [5]

In some parts of the Pyrenees one custom includes "burying an old garment belonging to the deceased under the bench where the bee-hives stand, and they never sell, give away, nor exchange the bees of the dead." [5]

Taking liberties

Grater, Tom (7 February 2019). "Annabel Jankel's 'Tell It To The Bees' sells to key territories for Film Constellation (exclusive)". Screen Daily . Retrieved 10 March 2019. Where did the title for this book come from? Talking to your bees is a very old Celtic custom (known in other parts of Europe, too) that made it to the Appalachians. You always tell the bees when someone is born, dies, comes or goes—because if you don’t keep them informed, they’ll fly away. On 3 March 1961, a very strange swarming incident was recorded in an article in the Shrewsbury Chronicle. Folklore collector E.F. Coote Lake again recorded this in an article for Folklore, the journal of the Folklore Society: a b c d e f g Steve Roud (6 April 2006). The Penguin Guide to the Superstitions of Britain and Ireland. Penguin Books Limited. p.128. ISBN 978-0-14-194162-2. The custom has given its name to poems by Deborah Digges, John Ennis, Eugene Field, and Carol Frost. [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] R. T. Smith's poem "Sourwood" also references the custom. [18]

Meanwhile, the Revolutionary War creeps ever closer to Fraser’s Ridge. And with the family finally together, Jamie and Claire have more at stake than ever before. Creative Scotland. 10 August 2017 . Retrieved 15 August 2018.Lydia Weekes is distraught at the break-up of her marriage. When her young son, Charlie, makes friends with the local doctor, Jean Markham, Lydia’s life is turned upside down. It is 1779 and, at last, Claire and Jamie are reunited with their daughter Brianna, her husband Roger and their family, living together on Fraser’s Ridge. Having the family together is a dream the Frasers had thought impossible. And yet… Emily é viúva, e como Ian soube de um massacre na tribo onde vive, quis saber como estavam as coisas. Ian tem certeza de que o filho mais velho dela é dele. Atualmente, Ian está em Fraser’s Ridge com Rachel, o filho deles (que finalmente tem nome, Hunter James) e também o filho mais velho dele com a Emily. The character who stood out most to me is Charlie. He is perhaps the best written boy of that age I have ever encountered in fiction. He sees everything and Shaw has captured precisely the level of understanding a 11 year old boy can bring to life, he’s not old beyond his years and he’s certainly not like the witty, fast-talking, sarcastic children we see on TV shows. He’s a boy, interested in his toy sailboat and exploring the woods and interested in sports, maybe a little less so than other boys. He’s grappling with the very beginnings of feelings for girls, not understanding why he wants to make an impression or is seeking attention or feels jealous of an older boy. The custom is best known in England but has also been recorded in Ireland, Wales, Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) and the United States. The film has changed much of my original story. Of course it has. The book takes about seven hours to read, while the film is 106 minutes long – so some of the story has to go. Liberties must be taken for a film adaptation to work: novels and film scripts are like comparing apples to oranges. A story which tells a lot with no big fuss, about the real meaning of love and the courage it takes to face it, and about the intolerance of a closed up society in which different people are outcast and tortured for their "perverted ways".Richardson tem provas que Lord John é sodomita e quer usar isso contra ele para seus fins próprios (e William sabe do boato do pai ser sodomita);
