Description

The KRK KNS 8400 Headphones are purpose-built to match up with Focusrite's VRM Headphone Monitoring solution. THD almost exclusively consists of 3rd harmonic distortion which in other cases may mean nasty audible artifacts, however, THD reaches a somewhat meaningful figure only at about 35 Hz that translates to distortion at about 105 Hz which although is well into the audible spectrum, doesn’t produce perceivable artifacts. Each model is best suited to different tasks, but the added comfort and overall fidelity of the KNS 8402 make it our preferred choice. The treble of the 8402's sounds fine to me, but sometimes I find the phones a bit fatiguing after an hour of so of use. Other than that these KRK’s are good, there isn’t much bad to say about them, but they don’t really excel in anything either.

With a maximum SPL of 124 dB, they’re capable of providing all the level you’ll ever need while remaining clear and detailed sounding, with very low distortion.Whether you are listening to some tracks, or tracking your next recording, the KNS6400 gives you the famous KRK sound independent of your monitors. Allowing producers and musicians to monitor their mixes with the same accuracy and depth as they are used to from their studio monitors.

KRK have managed to make their first headphones applicable to all studio situations without ever compromising on quality or the overall reliability of the product. Usually, here you’ll find a cut, but for KNS 8400 the 3 – 5 kHz region gets a noticeable boost of about 3 dB.

While they can't complete in terms refinement or natural sound in comparison to expensive hi-fi headphones, this is surely beside the point. BEYERDYNAMIC DT770 PRO 80 Ohm Closed Back Monitoring Headphones The DT 770 PRO is a closed dynamic headphone and has been designed for critical music and sound monitoring.

I'd highly recommend these headphones to anyone else that's looking for an affordable headphone monitoring solution. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others.Nine out of the ten measured pairs fall in between +/- 3dB difference with one outlier having about 5 dB less bass (20 – 200 Hz) than average. Compared to what I hear through the ProAcs, there is something very slightly off with the timbre of acoustical instruments heard through the 8402's - male voices and mid-range piano notes can sound slightly hollow and lacking in body. If you want something a little more colored (and bassy) but still monitoring-capable, Audio Technica or Beyerdynamic may have what you're looking for, from what I've read. At 202g and 232g, respectively, they’re also reasonably light, so it’s no surprise that we found them pretty comfortable over long periods. For reference, I listen to my well-set-up ProAc 1SC speakers allied with a small subwoofer to get clean bass down to around 35hz.

If you’ve ever felt a need for a clear, crisp and virtually distortion-free reference of your mix — don’t look any further.KRK headphones provide incredibly natural frequency response that gives you a reference standard unaffected by your location. I bought them and they are about as good as the ATH-50's were, except less the headband is indeed uncomfortable, but the pads are moreso than the 50's. You must be employed at least 16 hours per week, self-employed, retired in receipt of a pension or receiving disability payments. I had to give up previous headphones because factory replacements were not available (or in the case of the NAD, the factory replacement turned out to sound quite different from the original pad) and I don't like treating headphones as disposable items. Two out of ten pairs measured had inconsistencies though, in worst cases reaching 4 dB in some frequency bands which drags the score down.
