The only thing with this book was that it was more plot oriented than the first one. I personally am not a big fan of plot and prefer character and relationship development. While this book did have that, the driving force was the plot. There was nothing wrong with it and I actually was intrigued by what was happening, but I ultimately did enjoy this a slight bit less than first one. It’s not because the book was bad or anything, it’s just personal preference.

This series looks promising! I devoured the last half of the book. The first half seemed a bit slow, but I think that's because I was a bit clueless to what was going on with the story and characters. She lost her arm and she dropped out of school, but most of all she lost herself. She lives in constant fear, misery, and self-loathe because she cannot accept her own actions ruined her whole life. She tells everyone and herself everything was an accident because she doesn't understand why she would have chosen to save a stranger -even a handsome one- and end up with nothing other than phantom pain and a crappy waitressing job. we also have theo, which is my favorite. those who read reverse harem JUST KNOW it always has the character that is super cute and protective with a dark past and probably tattoos, piercing and/ or a crazy appetite for sex we wouln't imagine about......... this is theo. This book started with promise, the premise was interesting with Ayla saving a "beautiful earth and air eyed man" from being shot, but in turn being shot herself and ends up losing part of her arm from the elbow down. But because she saved the mysterious man, said man decided that him and his two friends shall stalk Ayla for 2 and a half years... men watch from the shadows. Watch her every move. One obsessed, one falling and one fighting for control - Marcus, Theo and Ryland. They watch. They wait. Finally they have to step out of the darkness and face the light. Face her. Ayla. The one who is so embedded in their heart and minds. This poor cover model probably didn't drink water for an entire day just to get this massively cut photo.

Ayla comes from foster homes. She's been used and abused, she's been beaten, she has struggled to make a life for herself. The run for there lives with he help of Dominic, who turns out to be Ayla brother Caleb. They all banned together to kill Luca and save themselves from the other gangs chasing them. When Luca is dead they team up together and form a sort of truce gang for the city and each control a section.I have never been more upset for a series to be finished, but also I’ve never been this happy. Every book in this series was pure perfection and the final one didn’t disappoint. The second book does end with a cliffhanger, be warned! Hard to believe the next book will be the last. There's something rotten in Halston: there's a lot of twists and conflict going on in Sweet Retribution, and I can't wait to see if any of my predictions will come true or not. Umm, I seriously hope Marcus and Ayla aren't related. 😲 As in, hopefully Marcus doesn't turn out to be Ayla's missing brother. I mean, it seems unlikely, since Ayla's brother is supposedly younger than her, and Marcus is obviously older than her (and also the fact that Marcus's sister already died when she was just a young girl), but there's that certain passage (or two) that worries me and makes me think too much into it. LOL. I've been in a reverse harem binge lately and I can say that most of the other books I've read haven't held much substance in terms of plot, side characters and the main characters. They're not together for 2 years in the beginning as the guys secretly watch out for her but I don't believe there were any others during that time for the guys

o romance foi completamente deixado de lado para focar na parte do jogo/ da guerra que eu comentei na primeira review (aquela parte de jogos vorazes). agora a ayla faz parte da guerra, porque saiu querendo matar o povo lá. ô mulher burra. For the majority of the book I thought it was going to be a pnr. Don’t ask why, I don’t know! Maybe it was the ethereal feel to her dreams or her “connections” with the guys? I was expecting vampire or shifters at the end…so don’t be like me. It has zero pnr action. It's a RH, but there are only a couple steamy scenes and those are with one guy. The storyline wasn’t bad. The turns the plot took were creative and while a few things were predictable, I wasn’t disappointed I figured it out before the characters.

Honestly, TikTok made me do it. I am glad it did because this was so good. I finished it in a day. It's everything I ever wanted in a reverse harem, obsession, stalking romance. But one fateful night, an unwanted selfless act made her jump between three bullets and Marcus Constantine and irrevocably changed her life - to the worst. Callie Rose’s third novel of the “Kings of Linwood Academy” series of novels “The Risk” is a fun read that wraps up the story that started in the debut as Iris’s murderer is uncovered. Harlow and her friends have worked hard and finally managed to expose the killer. marcus is the one who most appears on this book, and i accepted that since there is three books (and i imagine the author intends to develop each one in her own timing). he's clearly the boss on the trio, the possessive one.

i liked! marcus was the main character here and we didn't have any groupal scene (i was expecting, i confess).......... i can say marcus is hot. that's it. The plot parts were much improved. I think the cliffhanger we got at the end of this book wasn't quite as effective as the last book and there were some twists that just didn't quite work for me as well but overall it was much better and I appreciated the action. One thing I didn't mention in my review of the first book is that Ayla had one of her arms amputated 2 and half years before the main plot of the book. I don't know what it's like to lose an arm but there is so little attention paid to it that it seems like a weird inclusion. Many people who have lost limbs live very regular lives but Ayla seems to have zero issues navigating this fairly recent amputation and when she loses her prosthetic, she acts like it doesn't really matter, which is not what I think would actually happen. It just felt a bit off to me and made me feel like that aspect of her character could have been handled better.Rose loves to read angsty books but when it comes to TV comedies are her bread and butter. She loves reading reverse harem novels which she discovered several years ago and has never stopped reading them. My first read by this author and I enjoyed it. I will say that at the time of writing this review after some time has passed since I finished this book I'd actually go with a high 3 rather than 4 but that could also be because I didn't enjoy the rest of the books as much as I'd hoped. Ayla is realistic compared to other mafia FMCs in the sense that once she entered this world she didn't remain completely innocent or turn into a complete badass. Don't get me wrong, she is awesome, it's just she's her own brand of awesome. She is trying to get tougher but isn't automatically amazing at shooting guns and fighting people.
