you could do more in depth literary analysis on the gifs i chose for this pre-review than on The Daughter of the Pirate King. Men are the weaker gender, because you can make them do things for you, hypnotize them with the perfect image of their dream woman or see what they’re actually feeling There's something about a Lady Pirate that I can definitely get behind. The setting was fun and Riden was a swoon-worthy love interest. Alosa turns on her siren ability to sense his emotions as she searches the ship. He senses the change in her, something no one else can do. He follows and questions her as she searches. He learns about her mother and her abilities. He’s afraid she’s messed with his head and made him feel things he’s never felt before. She hasn’t at all except to put him to sleep twice. He doesn’t know whether to believe her. This was a lot of fun!! 🤩🤩 once again I FLEW through it and ended up thinking it was a great conclusion to the series! Really enjoyable 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️💗💗

I make a turn down the next street, racing toward the rendezvous point. Sorinda materializes out of the darkness and runs silently next to me.

Daughter of the Siren Queen was probably just as good as Daughter of the Pirate King, though both wavered and weren’t perfect. With both, there would be moments where I’m extremely invested and loving everything going on, only to feel bored five minutes later. Those highs and lows were odd, I have to admit. Regardless, it was still a good story. His hand goes to his throat and pulls out a leather cord hidden beneath his shirt. On the end is a glass vial, no bigger than my thumb, stoppered with a cork. And rolled up inside is the final map piece. With it, my father and I will finally travel to the siren island and claim its treasure. I will probably continue on with the duology, mostly because I want to visit the home of the sirens. I think a young Meg would have enjoyed this a bit more.

She has everything figured out. But does she? What she doesn't see coming is someone who can see through her nefarious plans and that's where our big, too-hot-for-a-pirate and super charming first mate, Riden comes in. In Daughter of the Siren Queen, Alosa retrieves the last piece of the ancient map leading to the world's greatest treasure, all too eager to please her father and prove her value. But when secrets of her father come to surface, and her life is turned upside down, she has no choice but to find the sirens' lair on her own, and claim their treasure for herself. The voyage of the Ava-lee is nothing but dangerous. With her father's entire fleet on her heels, her only chance at defeating him is to control her siren nature, and use it to save her crew. But the siren is a murdering beast, trying to eradicate her humanity, and make Alosa use her abilities only for death and pleasure. Will she manage to outmaneuver her father? Will she save her crew, and be the Captain they deserve? And, most importantly, who will prevail, the siren or the human? Because pirated aren't supposed to look like you look and talk like you talk and do what you do. You're confusing, and it's messing with my head.” Another small issue I had were with some of the characters. Not Riden, Alosa or the Pirate King…rather, with the “lesser” characters. Those I didn’t like too much because we never get to know them well enough. They felt too filler-like and one-dimensional. And because of that I didn’t care if they lived or died. We will negotiate the terms of my surrender. First I will have your word that my crew will be freed and unharmed.”I cut at the hamstrings of one of the men I felled. The next gets the point of my dagger jammed into the base of his spine. The other two are rounding on me, finally finding their feet. But my powers are running out. We need to get out of here. I glance around the room, noting the unlit lanterns hanging all along the walls, contemplating the oil resting inside. Draxen turns to see what the commotion is. Meanwhile, Riden levels another pistol at me, even whilst a smile still rests upon his face. Single-shot pistols take time to reload with gunpowder and an iron ball, which is why most men carry at least two on them. But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?
