We want the hat as tight onto the form as possible, especially the area that you are going to press onto (for this hat it’s the front). I do think it helps you dial in the time and temperature and it helped me be successful with the majority of the projects the first time. Before adding your hat to the hat form make sure you remove anything (cardboard, stickers, etc) from the inside of your hat. With sublimation, it is going to be important to add that protective paper to the top so ink does not get on the hat press.Once all selections have been made, select Send Settings to Hat Press, and follow the on-screen prompts to finish the project! The grey ball cap that Cricut came out with has a high enough polyester count that you can use sublimation or Infusible Ink on it and you can use it all the way around the hat. Moving the unit during transfer helps you keep even pressure, preventing press marks in your hat blank. It has a comfortable grip, so even though you may have to add pressure to your project it isn’t uncomfortable to do.

I’ve really only had GOOD success using the EasyPress Mini and it took a LOT longer and rolling a towel inside the hat to try to have something to press against didn’t work nearly as well as the form included with the Hat Press.
