Meanwhile, the REI Trail 25L is a solid contender for nearly a fraction of the cost of other similarly performing bags, making it a great value. Comfort Finally, we deem this perfect for minimalist travelers. If you aren’t carrying a sleeping bag, tent, mess kit, food, etc. the Talon 33 is a great travel bag, as it is lightweight, comfortable, and easy to carry on any type of transportation. In the three years I have owned an Osprey Tempest bag, it has faithfully accompanied me to a handful of countries and served me well during nature hikes.

Downsides? I’m struggling to think of many, but the position of the upper strap isn’t fab across my boobs. It would be alright if I were a bit smaller, but I think if you were really chesty, this may cause minor discomfort. Verdict You also have an adjustable sternum strap with an emergency whistle in the front, which will make sure your should straps are in a comfortable position.Side tension straps are linked to the hipbelt. By tightening these straps you can stabilise the load but reduce the hipbelt flexibility. Where balance is critical tightening them can help you feel more secure. However, if you are striding out over easy terrain it’s better to loosen these straps to allow full hip flexibility. There are some little extras that make it ideal for a range of activities, including a sternum strap emergency whistle, reflective detailing so you can be seen in the dark, stow-on-the-go trekking pole attachments, two ice ax loops, a hydration sleeve, a bike light attachment, and an internal key clip attachment. Appearance The Talon series at Osprey comes in multiple sizes, and the 22-liter version is also quite popular. This bag is meant for getting off-trail and so you want a support system and padding. I’ve always foudn that this bag does a good job at staying lightweight while remaining comfortable.
