The world I am coming from - being super analytic and especially suspicious of Czech GZ pressings - was surprisingly impressed with the sound stage and pressing quality. Good to have them back though, especially when the band appear to have used their time away productively. The included art and etchings on the reverse of the albums look great but doubt it is something I would display.

Tool is a very visually driven band and I expected something a little more visually interesting to look at than what they chose for the album cover. Tool members include drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and vocalist Maynard James Keenan.Reading about how Keenan worked on the album around his wine making, it feels like that half focused effort bled through onto the song writing. Formed in 1990 in Los Angeles, California – Tool emerged with a heavy metal sound on their first studio album, Undertow in 1993. As far as the music is concerned, Chris Bellman has done a stupendous job mastering and mixing this album. The discs are packaged in a hard-shell box with new album art, and a bound casebook holding the vinyl along with new imagery not previously seen.

Note: These vinyls are hand signed by Alex Grey on the cover OR the upper side of the vinyl itself; original packaging comes opened. I have described listening to this version as being similar to listening to a recent Pink Floyd reissue or Nine Inch Nails vinyl remaster. This package features five 180gm black vinyl discs, with album tracks featured on Side A, and unique etchings featured on Side B. DELUXE VINYL: LIMITED EDITION – Five 180 gram BLACK vinyl discs, with unique etchings on second side, in casebook with vinyl pockets and new artwork, in hard shell box. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. My previoulsy purchased copies of Undertow and Opiate were underwhelming, particularly given that I generally have appreciated early punk rock tool more than later prog rock Tool.

The official vinyl LP versions have 9 songs (they include 'Legion Inoculant' and 'Mockingbeat', which are not included on the CD) and are roughly 84 and a half minutes long. It doesn't sound like the band challenged themselves or grew in any meaningful way over the last thirteen years. As far as the actual album is concerned, the more I listen to it the more I'm coming to terms with how half-assed it sounds. Confused because I’d heard absolutely nothing about it and shocked that it was at such a steep discount. The band’s efforts to unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of personal evolution continued with the release of Lateralus in 2001, and 10,000 Days in 2006 - gaining Tool critical acclaim, and commercial success around the world. The discs are packaged in a hard shell box with new album art, and a bound casebook holding the vinyl along with new imagery not previously seen.
