Although the most powerful vacuum cleaner in Dyson’s range, the V15 Detect is also quite light at 3.08 kg. That’s light enough to easily move around and light enough that cleaning up high isn’t a struggle; it helps that the vacuum is so well balanced. The extra tech in the Dyson V15 Detect means it weighs in at just over 1lb / 500g heavier than the V11 Absolute, so are the extra weight, and the hefty price tag, justified by the vacuum's cleaning power and smart features? The lighter and smaller the vacuum cleaner, the easier it is to handle. The powerful suction takes its toll here, though. A Highlight: The floor nozzle uses a sensor to detect the floor type and adjusts the cleaning mode/suction power accordingly.

In Auto mode, Dyson DLS™ technology inside the High Torque cleaner head monitors brush bar resistance 360 times a second, intelligently adapting power across different floor types. 6 To empty the V15 Detect's bin, you must remove any accessories attached to the vacuum, hold it over a trash can, point the nozzle downward, then firmly push the red bin release button down, taking care to avoid pressing the trigger while doing so. The bin will then slide down, its lid will open, and the contents will fall into the trash. When you empty the bin, a cloud of dust and debris comes out.I can’t go any further without mentioning the green laser on the fluffy head. This shines a blade of light in front of the head, highlighting dirt on the ground, so you can visually ensure that an area is clean. The V15 Detect also comes with the High-Torque cleaning head, that when used on Auto Mode, will adjust the power to suit the type of floor you’re cleaning when using. However, unlike the version that ships with the V11 range, it now has 56 polycarbonate teeth that shred hair into small sections, to stop it getting tangled around the bristles of the cleaning head. The V15 Animal on the other hand has a little less accessories. But it is also a little cheaper. All Dyson V15 Models at a Glance It was a bit louder and rougher, but it didn’t leave a single grain of sand behind, either. Cleaning on Low Carpets scrolled cyclones generate forces of up to 100,000g to capture dust and debris from the airflow, so there’s no loss of suction.³

On the surface the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute looks very similar to the V11 range, comprising the motor, 1-inch / 2.6cm color LCD display, the motor, which creates the suction, the cyclones that generate centrifugal force to ensure dust and dirt stay in the canister, and the 0.2-gallon / 0.75-liter dust bin at the top. Weighing in at 6.8 lb / 3.1kg, it's one of the larger, heavier cordless vacuums we’ve tested. After every cleaning session, the graph shows how much dust you've removed. To reset the graph, charge the vacuum for 30 minutes or remove the battery for 15 seconds. Dyson says the graph can help you determine when you're done cleaning. On the display, you get a real-time battery life display in minutes counting down. This adjusts based on the power mode you have set and the tools attached, so you can always see how much more cleaning time you have left. Best accuracy achieved in Auto mode. This features a class 1 laser diode (so it’s safe for humans and pets) mounted at an angle of 1.5 degrees and 7.2mm off the ground, which projects a beam of green light in front of the cleaning head to highlight microscopic dust particles that are invisible to the eye. The Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head works as advertised, revealing dust on hard floors that would otherwise be invisible. I couldn't believe the amount of dust it showed under my dining room table, where robot vacuums have a hard time reaching; had it not been for the laser, I might have overlooked this spot. Dyson says the laser is safe for pets and humans, but you should avoid looking directly into the beam. You can easily turn the laser on and off using a slider on the cleaner head. You’ll barely have to do anything. In addition, it also saves battery and improves the cleaning performance. The Anti-Hair Function (Anti-Tangle): The V15 weighs 3.1 kg, so it doesn’t stand out from the competition. The weight is one of the few categories in which the V15 is quite average.
