She would have turned 60 this February and now to mark that anniversary, a new recording is being released of Eva Cassidy’s songs, set to an orchestral score provided by the London Symphony Orchestra. With more than 11 million in worldwide sales and critical acclaim such as the Wall Street Journal praising her "perfect pitch, impeccable timing and vulnerability" and USA Today citing her "emotional ability to reach the depths of any song," her unerringly tasteful sense of material continues to propel interest in her recorded work all these years later.

At age 11, Cassidy began singing and playing guitar in a Washington-area band called Easy Street. [6] This band performed in a variety of styles at weddings, corporate parties, and pubs. Due to her shyness, she struggled with performing in front of strangers. [7] While a student at Bowie High School, she sang with a local band called Stonehenge. [4] During the summer of 1983, Cassidy sang and played guitar six days a week at the theme park Wild World. [4] Her younger brother Dan, a fiddler, was also a member of this working band. She enrolled in art classes at Prince George's Community College but dropped out after finding them unhelpful. [8] Scarpone, Amanda (January 26, 2005). "Eva Cassidy Remembered". Broadwayworld.com . More than 25 years after Cassidy's passing, her dream has finally come true. The 'new' I Can Only Be Me* album represents a kind of séance in song in which the late singer's original vocals have been paired with the London Symphony Orchestra via rich new arrangement."
