Description

For touching up dull patches and for renewing worn off polishes on marble, travertine and other calcium containing stones such as carrara, thassos, ajax, etc. as well as terrazzo and agglo marble. Not suitable for granite, quartzite, artificial stone, etc. I never really waxed the polished floor, bur sparingly used a water soluble floor polish, a few times a year. But the re-polishing, required me to clean with a good dish washing detergent before the yearly polishing. Eventually we just got in the habit of removing our shoes, and hit the traffic areas with the 10,000 grit, for couple of hours twice a year, with no wax. Keep in mind, however, that you should only be using a polishing tool that uses soft cotton or microfiber pads. Never use anything too abrasive or anything with metal in it, as this will scratch the surface of your marble. Don’t Be Afraid to Call an Expert

Prepare your surface for polishing by completing the honing process, to the highest clarity possible for best results. Sturdy and durable, marble has long been the choice in many homes and businesses to keep countertops and floors looking elegant and well-kept. The shiny surface of marble can make your space appear bigger, giving your kitchen an airy feel. Marble can withstand a lot of damage and is very pleasing to the eye, making it worth the somewhat expensive cost of installing marble surfaces in your home.

Lithofin MPP transforms calcium particles in the surface of the stone, making them easy to polish. The polish is renewed and the surface once again has a high gloss finish. If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. seek medical advice immediately and show this container and labelMonster Polishing Powder is also effective on Terrazzo, travertine, Limstone and Agglomerated stones. Color - Marble comes in many colors and gradients. Even countertops from the same slab might have a different hue if it's polished. The surface to be treated must be clean and free of polymers, acrylates and wax layers.Use Lithofin MN Power-Clean or Lithofin WAX-OFF to thoroughly clean the surface. For touching up small surfaces or patches it is possible to polish by hand. This will only lead to a lower level of gloss; it is preferable to use a polishing machine. Etch marks ruin the beautiful appearance of your marble surface. However, polishing powder can remove them easily. Safety first! Dry polishing marble flooring creates dust you certainly don’t want to breath. Wear protective goggles and a respirator.

DIY tip: These pads are designed to shed dust. If your pad gets caked with dust, use a soft nylon brush to remove it as needed. When the pad stops making dust, its diamond grit is gone, and it must be replaced. DIY tip: Wet polishing (our second method below) using water and polishing powder, is an option too, but it takes practiced technique to be successful plus makes additional mess that must be cleaned up to avoid staining the marble. The first-time marble polishing DIY homeowner will achieve better results with the dry polishing method, but it is labor intensive for large areas. CLEAR THE ROOM Watering can: When using just the pads and then the polish, water is sprinkled onto the floor. A garden-style watering can works well. Regular Maintenance: To prolong the effects of marble polishing powder, incorporate regular maintenance into your cleaning routine. Wipe up spills promptly, use coasters or placemats to protect the marble from heat and scratches, and regularly clean the surface with pH-neutral marble cleaner.

Application Temperature: the temperature of the surface should be between 10°C and 25°C. Switch off underfloor heating. Start gritty: Go over your floor first with the coarsest (lowest number) pad in the set, usually 50, 64 or 100 grit. Keep the sander moving, never holding it in once spot to prevent gouging the marble. Cover the entire floor.

Being equipped with the proper materials can help you clean and polish your marble surfaces as efficiently and safely as possible. Stone Cleaner Continue through all four colors: Replace the red pad with a succession of the white, yellow and green pads, making four passes with each as described above.

What’s in Marble Polishing Powder?

An orbital sander: While a standard drill (worst) or angle grinder (better) can be used, an orbital sander is best designed for this type of work. If you’re not familiar with this tool, one look at it will demonstrate that it offers superior control and the ability to exert firm and steady downward pressure. You can see why an orbital sander is also called a palm sander. Vacuum and clean as usual: Vacuum the marble for a final time, and then clean it using your normal routine. If you don’t have one or want to see what the pros recommend, our How to Clean Marble Floors Guide has the answers. Shop vacuum and squeegee: Water must be vacuumed up between each step in the process. A wet/dry vacuum is the right tool. Look for a rubberized squeegee head to prevent running the hard plastic head of the shop vac over your newly polished floors. It might leave marks or scratches. The other option is to use a squeegee to bring the water to the shop vac head. TIPS FOR WET POLISHING Marble’s opulent sparkle is still there, hidden beneath a scuffed and murky surface but waiting to shine again. NOTICE: The directions above are average. Different stones may require more or less powder and/or water; a faster or slower pace, according with their inner physical and chemical characteristics. This product can be considered as universal as they come, but it’s no substitute for professionalism.
