And after reading the book, you too will probably want your own Damen, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice. Determined to get through her new high school life in “recluse” mode, she befriends only two other people, sulks in her hoodie, and blocks out the “mean girl” snickers with her iPod. To avoid spoilers I will just say that one of the characters becomes very dramatic, and I think it was a bit much for me.

I’m intentionally avoiding mentioning Ina, because I’d hate to ruin her story but I will say that she is of course furious and heartbroken over the loss of her loved one from the first story. Alyson Noël clearly had put a lot of thought into this book – what with her ‘unique’ idea of what the Afterlife is like. I liked it at first, but the last book didn’t leave much of an impression I will still read the nex one when it comes out though, I always hope for a revival. This book picks up roughly where book one left off – it’s the start of a new school year and Summer is feeling optimistic…and you know what happens when characters start to feel good about things. Drina as the antagonist, it think maybe my biggest complaint, the whole explanation sort of wrecked the ending for me. Miles- again it seems apparent that Noel has never met the gay community so she bases it off stereotypes- his gay characterization was done horribly wrong, so badly done that if he met KURT Hummel- he would have been bitchslapped. He’s the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head – wielding a magic so intense, it’s as though he can peer straight into her soul.

Besides the book being kind of dystopian, with Fae and magical creatures and a boarding school setting, this book has trials. Best friends make the worst enemies—they know all your secrets, your weaknesses, and just how to hurt you most. Evermore was a great way to lighten my reading load this winter and provided me with a creative, magical story that I really enjoyed. It wasn’t anything new, in fact, ‘ Evermore’ was extremely derivative of most Young Adult books, and therefore felt entirely predictable, monotone and two-dimensional.To aid this, her friends must be selfish, vain, crazy, slutty, uncaring or in other ways undeserving of the heroine’s attentions and affections. As a side note, I do review books and films on here, so you will occasional see a review post on a Friday!
