Description

G becomes suspicious when the new girl at school knows a little too much about the theft of Mrs Robinson's purse and grows close to her Best Friend Layla. This book covers the entire process from breaking the ice, making small talk, connecting with people, dealing with rejection, etc.

Danielle's great-aunt Elma passed away and in her will she left instructions saying that the family can sort through my stuff. We should be teaching our kids basic morals and ethics of making friends such as, sharing, smiling, saying nice things, respect and so on rather than kissing, cuddling, and touching others which are not even essential for making friends. This process takes time but, as she hangs out with other people and tries new things, Madison is able to work things through and regain her confidence in her own sense of self. Told as a story, this is also a practical guide for children to explore different ways of making friends and being inclusive. With this newfound magical ability, Dany decides to draw the perfect best friend, Madison, who will make all of her troubles go away.

Not only is she upset by the thought that she isn’t a real person, she has to struggle with the knowledge that the way she feels about Dany might not be genuine and could just be what the magic is forcing her to feel. All her old friends have different schedules this year, and she's struggling to find where she fits in the 7th grade. What was most troubling about this graphic novel is that it appears to want to tackle some tough topics, but then just brushes them off. When she rejects him and he goes on a rampage during a school pep rally, Danielle and Madison have to set aside their differences to stop him! I saw a glimmer of something there, but the book simply took too many bizarre turns and the narrative wasn't nearly tight enough to redeem it.Even if you have tried many similar friendship books for kids, this story about little Melissa will surely be an excellent addition to a toolkit! I think that's a big no for a book that's being targeted at middle grade readers, and since the main character is a girl, I think it's fair to say the target audience is also middle grade girls. If you want to improve your social skills, self-confidence, and ability to connect with someone, you can take our 1-minute quiz. Amanda Mcardie's book is the perfect lesson to children about meeting new people, standing up for one another and celebrating their differences. I wanted the fact that he says shocking and vile things to be enough to clue her in to the fact that this guy is not okay.
