It allows the camera to measure the light coming through the lens and adjust the flash power output accordingly, so you don’t have to change the flash settings manually. This feature makes it easy to get the right amount of light for your photos without additional effort. It’s important to note that your camera and flash must have this feature for TTL to work correctly. When buying a Godox flash for a Nikon camera, you should look at the TTL feature. The number of flash groups and channels You can mix and match select Godox and Flashpoint gear, but you do need to make sure they use the same communication system. Godox calls it XPro TTL and Flashpoint refers to it as R2 Pro. Rechargeable Convenience All I can say is that when I see I have one bar left. I will recharge. I won't push it since sod's law means I will run out of power at THE pivotal moment. Magnetic rim

With an exceptionally high recycling time of 1/20000s, the V1 is fantastic for capturing crisp images even during shoots that require movement. This makes the V1 perfect for dance and sports photography. Along with this recycle time, the V1 boasts HSS compatibility with all major camera brands to decrease ambient light. It also sports TTL function, allowing for auto exposure and saving precious time and effort. Lithium-Ion Batteries: praise the battery gods – I don’t have to charge any more AA batteries! This was the biggest game-changer for a workhorse like an on-camera flash because I can shoot multi-day events without having to worry about recharging and recycle times. Imo the high pricepoint is 'just' allbeit still really steep justified by its ability to (be) radiocontroll(ed). Yes, it would. B10 is what caught my eye because it's so compact for such a powerful flash and for outdoor use weight matters a lot, as a heavy flash up there in the air needs a heavier duty stand, sand bag etc whereas a lighter weight flash may not need quite as rugged support. A lot of people use B1's for studio work, I believe. For me the Profotos as a whole are a bit on the pricey side, my Elinchroms were bought at discounts and they have worked well, although the HS Plus radio transmitter is somewhat ridiculous in how long it takes to communicate with the flash units to obtain an update of the current settings. I think Profoto B1's in place of my current lights would have been almost twice as expensive, and it was simply not economically practical. But now the B10 and A1 are very appealing to me as portable lights, they are still expensive but at least they have benefits (I'm aware Godox seems to have copied the A1, though I read Profoto is taking them to court). Which brings up another question: do I want to fund a company that invents a really clever and useful thing (the attachment interface and modifiers of the A1, or a company who copies it and sells it cheap)? I have to say that again in this case my priority would go to the original inventor, even if they have additional costs (R&D costs money). You'll need to buy an on-camera radio transmitter if you just want to use a single V1 unit wirelessly. There's a 2.5mm port on the flash too, and it can be triggered optically, but neither of those provides TTL metering. XPro TTL Remote (Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II pictured)The SB700 is a nice but former gen speedlight only capable to do CLS using IR with its limitations.

I mentioned earlier that the modeling light deserves a spot on both the Pros and Cons list of this Godox V1 review. While the color output isn’t the best, it has definitely helped me out in tight spots, quite literally, when I have needed just the smallest bit of light. This is a great tool to have on hand for wedding ring shots, spotlighting one individual, and highlighting objects to give them a bit more pop. For the example above I needed a secondary light to hit the second level of bridal details on the bench but couldn’t place a flash at the right angle without getting it in the frame or being too harsh. 3. Mobile Light Stand Undoubtedly Godox is one of the market’s most popular and trusted flash brands. They offer many advantages that make them ideal for photographers of all levels who use Nikon cameras. Godox released the much nicer X2 transmitters (60 dollar) and Xpro trigger (70 dollar) in the meantime, you just put those in the hotshoe and you're ready to go and you have the smartphone app to control the unit thus the flashes over Bluetooth as a bonus. I do use NiMH AA batteries in my speedlights. True, they don't get as many shots but this hasn't been a problem for me. I do outdoor shots mostly with Quadra and most indoor shots with Nikon, so the usage of the batteries on the Nikon flashes is rather low on a given day. I just add a little bit of light. I used to do outdoor portraits also with speedlights but run into overheating and that's how the Elinchrom's came into the picture. Nikon have solved the overheating problem in the SB-5000 by using a fan, which seems to work well. Now you may have a particular use case where the round head is an advantage for you. If that's the case then the V1 is for you. But as a wedding photographer, I don't fire bare flash unless I'm desperate. The interface is indeed much easier to use and a clear improvement. As mentioned earlier, I’d love to see Godox add the ability to toggle on/off but it’s a minor thing. Indeed the interface is one of the main reasons I use the V1 now over the v860ii. Godox V1 vs Godox v860ii The V1 includes a dot matrix LCD like we’ve seen on their other models. However, this time the default color is a bright blue that makes the screen easy to read, even in bright daylight. As with the V860, the screen turns orange when slave mode is activated to give you an easy way to know which mode the flash is in. As with other models, the buttons on the flash are context sensitive and their current function is displayed on the screen. This makes it easy to know exactly what the buttons are going to do as you work. There are a few key features to consider when it comes to finding the best Godox flash for your Nikon camera. Here we find out the most crucial elements that you must see before making your buying decision. Size and weight
