When it comes to comparisons, I recommend the FP-10 to beginner pianists. The more realistic keys are excellent for learning the piano while also practicing correct technique. The extra price is well worth it in this regard. Andertons YouTube videos helped me make my purchasing decision – in their blind tests, the Korg B2's piano samples sounded best to me ears. I haven't been disappointed… I'm no musician, but the concert pianos sound superb, as does the church organ. The other keyboard samples are also excellent. FP-30 has more onboard voices, more polyphony, but sound engine and keyboard action is the same as in FP-10, so I don’t think you should overpay for it if you are on budget.

If you know anything at all about Korg, you will be aware of their great reputation for producing excellent sounds, and the B2 in no way marries that image. There are 12 really high-quality sounds present, but there aren’t many voices. The piano’s tones impressed us with their clarity and articulation, as well as their pleasing bass end. As we all know, the majority of people only want the piano to sound like, well, a piano, and will never experiment with different sounds. If so, you don’t need to bother about the B2, since it more than meets your piano needs. If Third Party Software has been supplied (whether in conjunction with any Korg instrument or equipment, or as a stand-alone product) a notice to that effect will be contained with or on the disk supplied and in such circumstances Korg shall be deemed to be acting as the agent only of the supplier of such Third Party Software. It is better to compare Korg B2 to Roland FP 10 which are same class devices. The price for these two is similar, and personally I would choose FP 10 if I were choosing between them. As I mentioned in the article I liked FP 10 for more natural keyboard and piano sound, it also offers a little more voices.

Being in love with music for as far as he can remember, Lucas started this blog as the “ go-to”place for the most accurate and detailed information about the world of music.

Korg's no-nonsense digital piano offers fantastic sounds but lacks in features

Coming with 88 fully weighted keys and Korg's Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keyboard, the B2 prides itself on its natural feeling response. The keys are graded, meaning they are weighted differently throughout the piano, with the lower notes feeling heavier than the keys at the higher register. The app is innovative too, as you don’t even need to connect your digital piano to the app by USB (though it would be ideal). If you go with the B2 or B2N, the included damper pedal is shaped like a true piano sustain pedal, a step above the commonly bundled square-pad pedals. Even so, this pedal acts as a simple binary on-off switch, meaning half-pedaling isn’t supported. The Italian Concert Piano has a somewhat Yamaha-ish tone, with no overly pronounced frequencies, so it’s my go-to for use with the B2.
