About this deal

Not only are they entertaining, but they teach us so much about life - and enable us to live vicariously through characters who experience more drama than we do! I skim-read a lot of this willing it to pick up, and it finally does towards the end when a chance meeting sets things up for plenty of shock and heartbreak; I'd decided not to bother with the third installment midway through the second, but the ending changed my mind. This adds to the enjoyment of this novel, as it feels like you are getting three stories in the one novel.

She knows she must speak to the current Lord Deverill – JP – if she is to uncover the secrets of the past.I absolutely loved Songs of Love and War (5-star read for me) but this 2nd in the trilogy didn't captivate me as much as Love and War did. However, Montefiore does devote time in the Daughters of Castle Deverill in keeping her readers up to speed on her characters and their lives, which enables the book to also be read as a standalone novel.

It lacks the intimacy of the first book, and the feisty characters I'd loved first time round have now become two-dimensional and irritating.

The part played by "The Shrubs" in this book ( sorry, but I don't want to spoil this treat for you by telling you what they are), was a touch of genius.

I probably won’t go back and start over myself, but I do recommend starting at the beginning if this is the type of book that interests you.
