I will say without giving too much away, this might be one of my favourite “new” worlds to ever exist. But don’t you worry, we’re only in book one and we had to mix it up a little so book two sets up the promise of lots of that gloriously, violent, stabby, murderous creature shit.

At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied. The political system and fantasy aspect of the story wasn’t super intriguing imo and I found myself more interested in the romance.

It truly feels like all the author's previous books were a warm-up for her to hone her craft and start writing romantic fantasy (high on the romance, low on the fantasy). It’s too soon for that to be revealed in book one, but again, the promise of Lis being a queen is smacking you in the face so not to worry. And while Thorne and Lis were worlds apart, it always felt like there was something pulling them together. There were honestly so many things I appreciated about her character, from her daily gardening, to hearing her inner thoughts and her openness when it comes to her body and sexuality (yes please and thank you!
