A sensitive story infused with optimism and perseverance, this will encourage wholesome conversation with children of all socioeconomic backgrounds; it’s an essential purchase. i try to because this book spoke to me years ago when i forst ipened thay beautiful bright orange book and it just speaks louder every time after. She developed her characters with a crisp, no nonsense, let’s get down to all their hang ups in the first chapter or two.

The range of emotions that it touches upon are quite simply staggering, I don’t think I have a nerve that has not been shredded. Every time I hear it I can see Gus in my head in the recording studio singing his heart out … and it gives me goosebumps. This was the first-time Keller and Katie admitted their love towards one another and while it was a very heartwarming scene, it also confirmed my suspicions about Katie. I’ve often wanted to reread it but once you’ve read it and know what kind of ride Kate, Keller and Gus take you on, you have to psych yourself up to read it again and I never could.

We could all learn a thing or two from Hendrik and his friends and I can highly recommend this second volume of his diary to you. The product of a less acceptable upbringing, she learnt early on not only how to care for herself but her sister Grace. Raucous, fun and devil-may-care they may be at times but it’s not only heartening but touching to see the camaraderie and love the Old-But-Not-Dead Club members have for each other. Bright Side is the most generous loving talented and Beautiful young lady to read, I connected with her straight away. Then Kate meets some very special friends in Minnesota, (gay people, unsure people, sick people who don't think they're sick- add more drama here).

Kate will sweep you off your feel, she will pull you along with her on her journey to the inevitable but she will have you laughing with her all the way. Even if It is just a book, it presents very real scenarios in everyday life that will have you questioning the way you live. It’s a plan that doesn’t include love, but somewhere along the way Keller Banks entered her life and threatens to shoot that plan to pieces. Here, even though he hasn’t been writing the diary for a year when the book opens, he’s had two years worth of the Club meeting, a death of someone close to deal with and now in On the Bright Side, he’s facing fresh challenges which let us see a deeper, more vulnerable side to the outwardly gruff Groen. It might also be a good opportunity to remind kids that it’s okay to share with an adult – later, outside of the group – if they need anything like food or warm clothes.I was trying to prepare myself for her death because I knew this book already had me emotionally attached to her.

Gus needed his best friend, he needed the push and she was always there for him, just like he was for her. Leaving behind her home town in sunny California, Gustave and his mother, she goes to uni in a small town in cold and dreary Minnesota. The other characters, Pete, Rome and the other guys from Gus’s band Rook were just as essential to the story, every single one of them had some depth to add to Kate and her journey. And when it does, it feels less like facing a gust of wind on a winter day than getting swamped by a frozen wave in the dead of January.So, many kids who have this book read with their families might be experiencing some version of this story. I have loved every word on every page and I think I have finished the book with an enthusiasm that I didn’t have before I began. Shes an intensely powerful, brave strong girl who captures everyone's heart , her purity of soul and generous spirit spellbinds everyone who she touches. I love how much he cared about Kate and how much he didn’t care about things that are not important in living a meaningful life.
