While you wait for Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment to arrive on your doorstep , Bloody Disgusting is exclusively debuting the trailer for the brand new 4K restoration of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, the original horror classic that started it all. Doug Bradley is wonderful and the film lights up whenever he is on screen, whether as Pinhead or Captain Spencer. The plot has far too many holes and dead ends and raises more questions that it answers, thanks in no small part to the removal of 30 mins of footage from the first cut of the film that caused director Kevin Yagher to walk away from the final film – the relationship between Angelique and Pinhead is now woefully ill-defined and makes little sense, their interesting old school/new school versions of hellish ideologies and their conflict that results now little more than a few scattered lines of dialogue; the lack of focus now on the second box also undermines much of the hunt through time of the Merchant family; and the final act back in the 22 nd century simply didn’t have the budget to realise it as anything other than a very cheap looking stalk n’ slash denouement, with little of a finale to Merchant, Angelique and Pinhead’s centuries spanning storyline. Ashe and Eric LaRocca celebrating the queerness of Hellraiser in their bedrooms on Zoom, is just really out of place, it looks terrible for such an expensive box set, I think the makers could have made more of an effort to produce something more professional (much like on HRII where Hell Was What They Wanted!
Higgins once again revels in the malice and control of Julia’s character, alongside her is Sean Chapman as the ever sweaty sex pest ’Frank’ and of course Doug Bradley as the iconic ‘Pinhead’. Hedonist Frank Cotton ( Sean Chapman) thinks he has reached the limits of earthly pleasure, but a mysterious puzzle box will take him further than he can possibly imagine, opening the doors to a dominion where pain and pleasure are indivisible and summoning the Cenobites, whose experiments in the higher reaches of experience will tear Frank’s soul apart.a beautifully perverse series of images and characters that have never left the audience's consciousness. Things I’ve never seen before, the blue of Clare Higgins gorgeously murderous eyes are all the more startling, as is the smashed in face of her first hammer kill victim. Bloodline; EPK materials; several lengthy new content-specific featurettes (including one focusing on Christopher Young's iconic scores); and a 200-page book. We also have interview shows which feature people from an eclectic mix of the entertainment industries.
We then follow the toymaker’s bloodline into 1996 when John Merchant (Ramsay pulling triple duty) is a famous architect, who is plagued by dreams of hell that he uses to litter his work on huge skyscrapers. Don’t miss this chance to see Hellraiser, described by Empire as “genuinely disturbing”, on the big screen in a 4K restoration from the original camera negatives, in all its gory and gleefully disturbing glory.I’m not going to analyse this film again (it would be a really LONG review, and I’ve already done it twice before), instead – I hear you cry ‘Yet another box set’! com is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Pay4Later Limited, trading as Deko, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 728646).
gorier blood and gut effects in this version struck me as a bit more on the crimson-burgundy side than Arrow's new 1080 presentation offers. Unboxing Hellraiser * (HD; 21:53) is a fun piece by Alexandra Benedict focusing on a "different" kind of unboxing. Because Frank has used the Lament Configuration box to taste pleasures outside the normal realm of human sensation, freeing him from hell unleashes Pinhead and a menagerie of demons (cenobites) back unto earth.Justin has been with Digital Spy since 2010, and in that time, has covered countless major news events for DS from the US. The plot throughout the 8 films with Doug Bradley starring as "Pinhead" is pretty standardised and formulaic but enjoyable none the less. Hellraiser 3 brings its own ideas and vision to the series but is sensible enough to remember its roots.
