The book is narrated by Kinsey Millhone herself and opens with a perfect intrpoduction of who she is. He was taking medication for numerous allergies and before he went to bed, he downed his usual capsule.
Needless to say, Sue Grafton took a ride up mystery mountain (she didn’t actually quit her day job until “G” IS FOR GUMSHOE”) where she currently looks down at the rest of us mere mystery mortals and probably laughs occasionally. So, Kinsey is a private investigator who is looking into an old murder after the person who was wrongfully convicted gets out of prison. Upon finishing 'A is for Alibi', narrated on audiobook by Mary Peiffer, I'm happy to say that I enjoyed this first book in the series as much as when I read it in 1982. If she was killed because of something she knew, there could very well be a financial angle to this murder. So the long story of how I began my relationship with Kinsey Millhone at this late date is as follows: In general I am not a fan of books in a series.Sue Grafton's writing style and her ability to create complex, relatable characters make this book a must-read for fans of the mystery genre.
It was the silly season and a Monday at that, and Kinsey Millhone was bogged down in a preliminary report on a fire claim. Millhone takes the case and begins to track down all of the people who were a part of Fife’s life at the time of the murder. Scorsoni used the same method that Gwen used to kill Fife, so it would be assumed the same person committed both murders.
