About this deal

The story Cathy tells keeps you captivated from the very first page right through until the last page. I was looking forward to a new Cathy Glass book, but like other reviews, I agree there was too many references and explaining of Covid protocols (Like we’ve all been living under a rock all this time! But gradually they began to settle and as they did they talked more of life at home where there were a lot of arguments between Ashleigh and their parents. in reading about English criminals one comes across many who have been raised in and out of a foster care system which in practice comes across as virtually identical to the CDSS. The fact is , they are true narratives of what each particular child goes through that passes through Cathy's family. Selina tells me she still has nightmares about losing her children and no amount of therapy seems to help. I hope that readers can accept this saddening story for what it is and acknowledge that when false allegations are made it can be devastating to the family.Cathy, his carer, encourages Jackson to talk about what has happened to his family, but he just won’t engage. In this newest memoir, Cathy Glass looks after two young children after their older sister makes allegations of sexual abuse against their father.

Maybe it was the constant reference to covid it’s restrictions and their compliance or jumping to conclusions whilst also saying she didn’t judge? It was the first time reading one of Cathy's, and I found her writing style to be somewhat simple, which in turn made it difficult to follow. However, as the girls settle and start to talk of life at home, it becomes clear that Ashleigh didn’t enjoy the same close relationship with her stepfather. But since I already had the book I thought I’d give it a shot, and to my surprise it was readable, realistic and interesting. This case took place during the coronovirus pandemic, and the guidelines about social distancing and mask wearing made a considerable impact for the workers and children involved.

Despite mentioning that she does not / would not judge families, there were references to her "being right" about quite sensitive topics.I have been a foster carer for over twenty-five years and am what's known as a specialist foster carer, sometimes referred to as a level 3 carer. This memoir toys with the readers emotions as they try to find the truth within this family's chaos. Cathy tries to comfort the girls, but they want their mummy and daddy, and are inconsolable for days. Cathy approaches the story in her usual, down to earth practical manner with pandemic guidelines/regulations providing just another aspect to consider.
