The soundstage is intimate and inviting, Webster’s horn beautifully captured with sweet, rich overtornes, the bass liquid, chugging, and textured, piano and drums easy and natural. There's also the matter of its status as the most-referenced, and arguably, most important, jazz recording of all-time.

The trumpet is shrill, the piano is present and adding some flavor, the percussion percusses, the bass is timely and chill. As we set out to make our UHQR series the world’s best-sounding vinyl records, we have also used Clarity Vinyl, which is free of any carbon black pigment which might introduce surface noise. At the core of Kind of Blue: Legacy Edition is the original 45-minute album program, whose five titles – “So What,” “Freddie Freeloader,” “Blue in Green,” “All Blues,” and “Flamenco Sketches” – are indelibly etched in our contemporary musical DNA, be it jazz, rock, third through fifth stream classical, or beyond. Some 1959 stereo pressings had the title "Kind of Blue" occupying one line only on both sides (like in the promo; I assume these are the earlier 1959 pressings), others had Side A with the title on two lines while Side B has it on one line but the track listing sequence corrected (like the one pictured on this page), while others have both sides with the title on two lines. Beginning with the Byrds, the Doors, Carlos Santana, and the Allman Brothers, most rock improvisation has been modal.Sixty years have passed; this LP bridges that time span in the best way possible, struck from the master reel of Kind of Blue, free of speed issues and replete with all the instrumental detail, sonic environment and minimal noise.

It's why the label's engineers took every available measure to transport listeners to the March and April 1959 sessions that parlayed modal jazz into mainstream language. Everyone shares in the excitement of not knowing what will happen and, as the music begins to lie out in front of you, you'll feel as if you've been whisked away to a jazz holy land.

The album features Davis's ensemble sextet consisting of saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley, pianist Bill Evans, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Jimmy Cobb, with new band pianist Wynton Kelly appearing on one track in place of Evans. Masterização mono perfeita, disco limpo tocando sem nenhum chiado ou ruído e plástico interno de boa qualidade. Each song is extremely personal and at the same time, universal; covering subjects topical, humorous, and soulful; from the satirical to the sublime. com/Miles-Davis-Kind-Of-Blue/release/5795305), with the tracks on Side B wrongly interchanged, but red in color instead of white, would be the earliest pressings. For decades, it was considered the best selling jazz as it sounded then like an avant-garde and still sounds today like contemporary jazz.

Kind of Blue isn't merely an artistic highlight for Miles Davis, it's an album that towers above its peers, a record generally considered as the definitive jazz album. These sessions are so legendary, if I do anything in my life with as much vigor as these guys pumped out for this recording, I’ll die a happy man. Part of Mobile Fidelity's Miles Davis catalog restoration series, the landmark has been given the ultimate white-gloves treatment. Kind of Blue is no daunting, towering edifice - it doesn’t insist on itself, but is a gently seductive and laidback entity. It’s one of those that just hangs in your head when you’re trying to sleep after a night of drinking and is still hanging when you have a hangover.

Like just about every other historic album, there are many different CD releases on the market of the same thing, well not quite. It's the pinnacle of modal jazz -- tonality and solos build from chords, not the overall key, giving the music a subtly shifting quality. An audiophile favorite from the day it was issued, Kind of Blue takes on nirvanic sonic proportions via Mobile Fidelity's reissue. Only a handful of albums come close to this one, but they still haven’t knocked it from its pinnacle of pure pleasure and excellence. Kind of Blue: Legacy Edition is a double-CD package containing a standard CD booklet with a reworked 2,500-word version of Francis Davis’ essay from Kind of Blue Deluxe 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, and an embedded .
