About this deal

Line 6 created some default Scenes to showcase some possible multi-effect sounds as a starting point. Our band plays a variety of styles of music and the M9 allows me to find the sounds I need with with a minimal pedal board. Upon learning this was the POD 500 sans amp modeling and it was the DL 4 plus it was a workable solution to use with the Ditto X2. The Tube Drive effect, with the drive setting cranked, sounded great for delivering a vintage Marshall-like tone. Everything from old-school simplicity to esoteric boxes you may have never heard of, right up to to filter and envelope effects capable of tones you didn't think a guitar could make.

We could hear a very slight change to our signal passing through the M9 when our series loops were engaged, but this was the kind of subtlety you’d never notice as soon as one other musician started playing with you, or even just talked to you while you’re noodling around. In addition, if you reside in a jurisdiction that requires us to obtain your consent to use cookies on our sites then you will have an opportunity to manage your cookie preferences on the sites, except that certain cookies are required to enable core site functionality and you cannot choose to disable those cookies.

My reservation is just a point of expectation management really: a multi-effects unit is only going to sound as good as the guitar going in one side, and the amp it leads to from the other. It has a loop and a looper ( added in a firmware update so if you look at early demos/ reviews it won't have one). It has one of the usual drawbacks of multi effects: The tone and volume of two different effects sound the same when you're playing by yourself, then they sound significantly different, especially in level and brightness when playing with a band.
