Acquired this earlier in the year to lose some weight and having enjoyed the accompanying tv series. Now Tom is turning his attention to helping food-lovers who have chosen a lower-calorie diet as their own route to weight-loss .He also understands how much willpower it takes to shift unhealthy excess weight, because he has lost over 11 stone in the last four years by following a low-carb diet. It's hard to find low calorie diet books that cater to vegetarian diets as well, and then this book came along.

Then I tried a Chicken Tikka Dish from this very book that I had at my Sister's house and I was blown away by the flavour combination and the fact that it was a healthy meal, so that combined with the transformation that "Big Tom! I have tried a few of the Breakfast Meals so far, in particular, the "Overnight Porridge and Berry Compote" and the Cajun Scrambled Eggs and they are super tasty, and the best part of these meals even though its only breakfast, You Don't Feel Hungry an hour later which has stopped me from wanting to snack between meals. Whilst all the fresh ingredients are easily available, there are a few sauces and pastes in here that may not immediately seem easily accessible. It's been on my cookery book stand permanently since then in the kitchen and we cook from it most days of the week.As Tom says: `It's impossible to stick to a diet if the food you're expected to eat is boring and doesn't fill you up.

Recipes include Southern-style chicken; One-layer lasagne; Chicken tikka masala; Lamb doner kebab; Beef stroganoff; Sweet potato and black bean burritos; Sticky pork chops; and Baked doughnuts with sweet five-spice dust. I have forced myself to make as much recipes as possible from the book, even if I didn’t know the ingredients or the spices. The recipes are easy to follow, but don't expect them to be quick to execute, quite a few of them require quite a bit of preparation, but as most dishes are well suited for freezing I don't think that is a problem.

I have certainly been guilty of snacking between meals until I started cooking Tom's Meals from this book. A lovely jolly down to earth approach from a man i knew little about, but who is a wonderful advert for his recipes and book. And as the title of my review suggests, you really can not tell that these are lower calorie meals from a flavour perspective and the portion sizes are more than adequate, which to me is essential if you are going to stick to more healthy eating. The focus is on the food that we can and should be eating to lose weight, which is easy to make and won’t make you feel as though you are missing out. Tasty and interesting recipes, full of flavour, for low calorie food, they are delicious, some of the recipes do take a time to complete but are well worth the wait, there are also some quick dishes if you don't have a lot of time, there are clever swaps to use less calories.I am a big lad, and do struggle with weight issues, saw the program on the telly and thought bang on, tasty looking dinners and no too hard to make, ok so it is the telly and obviously edits and whatever will make it seem easier than what it is but why no give it a go if it doesn’t work then back to a chippy tea, had the book for about three weeks and have made about 12/13 recipes. I don't know how Tom does it but it's incredible, as snacking between meals is often the reason why most diets don't work. Featuring ALL the recipes from his BBC2 TV series, Tom Kerridge shows how you can enjoy all your FAVOURITE FOODS and still LOSE WEIGHT with his LOWER-CALORIE DIET WITH A DIFFERENCE. I've skimmed the kindle version i bought for a quick overview and like this very sensible approach to trying to lose weight but without sacrificing flavour, and still having a reasonable size portion.
