About this deal

By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Ebooks fulfilled through Glose cannot be printed, downloaded as PDF, or read in other digital readers (like Kindle or Nook). This doodle was inspired from a card I painted for my daughters teachers at Christmas, which they framed and have up in their office… it made me think that perhaps some other fun teachers out there might enjoy an end of term giggle too! Irrespective of whether you are or aren’t a parent, there are some truly relatable moments in this book and you can easily pick it up and enjoy a chapter in between being harassed by your progeny!

I really enjoyed it from the very first page - very funny, and very real throughout and I could relate so pretty much all of it. I've followed Clara for some time and hearing the book in her voice with her tone, intonations and emotions made it thoroughly enjoyable. The good news is, now she’s found (some of) the answers and is sharing her secrets with the rest of us! Exuding warmth and humour, Gin and Phonics is the much-needed antidote to Instagram-perfect motherhood. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. Most importantly, Clara shows us that no matter how much we adore our little treasures, life isn’t just about their A, B and bloody Cs.

It’s about how TikTok inadvertently gave this middle-class mum a whole new career in her 40s and my subsequent attempt to fulfil my lifelong dream of becoming an actress, it’s ridiculous stories about the perils of white wine and rose gold hair dye, and it’s an ode to the McDonald’s Drive-Thru (and my ongoing efforts to persuade my kids to come with me). Batten became popular on TikTok during the pandemic and seems bewildered by the fact that anyone finds her more than vaguely entertaining. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. Written in an enjoyably readable chatty style, this wonderful book takes you on a marvellously positive journey through the middle class life and motherhood of the author. If you’re a parent, aunt, uncle or don’t have/don’t want small people, this book will have you in fits of laughter.

It was however more than worth the odd looks from strangers as this is was one of the best books I have read in years, hence the rapid completion of it!

The good news is, now she’s found (some of) the answers and is sharing her secrets with the rest of us!strong>

TikTok sensation Clara Batten has dedicated the last few years to seeking the answer to one of life’s most crucial questions:

Is it possible to raise and nurture two small humans without losing your bloody mind? To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. At times it was very heavy on the stream of consciousness narrative, which did go on a tangent a lot of the time, not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Now I’ve just said all that out loud, I would be utterly shocked if this didn’t win every literary award out there.
