About this deal

A:It will breathe and allow moisture out. It does have some "sponge" like qualities if it rains heavily and will therefore soak up a limited amount of liquid. Over a short period of time that liquid will evaporate. If it is a really heavy downpour, once the chimney draught stopper has reached saturation, it will allow liquid through. Unlike wool, when it gets wet, it will not smell like damp sheep have taken up residence in your home.

Fold blankets instead of rolling for storage if possible so they maintain their shape better when stored away. PVC free – The Chimney Balloon is the only inflatable chimney draught excluder that is PVC free. PVC is an organochlorine based plastic which actually makes it one of the worst plastics to burn. Although more heat resistant, when heated it will emit harmful quantities of dioxins which are highly toxic to humans – they are carcinogenic and hormone disruptors – as well as small quantities of chlorine gas.A:The Chimney Draught Stopper is very easy to install. All you have to do is measure, cut, and fit. The only downside that we’ve found when using our Chimney Sheep draft excluder is that the ends of it can become frayed, but this doesn’t seem to affect the performance of it once it’s up the chimney. At the moment PlanetCare is safely storing the used filtered materials. Once they have sufficient quantity, they will reuse/recycle it all. At the moment they are planning to reuse the materials by converting them into insulation mats. But, they're always on the lookout for viable solutions and will choose the best available option to reuse/ recycle the fibres. Being effectively a double barrier with the top and bottom of the balloon, air is trapped inside, insulating the chimney against cold air sinking down, while simultaneously preventing warm air from rising up.

Place the Chimney Balloon near the base of your chimney with its flat surface facing up against any soot or creosote buildup that may have formed. You can also attach it to the top of your flue using a cord or rope, but this method is usually less effective because you’ll have trouble keeping its surface clean and intact. When there are no fires being used in the fireplace, keep it stored away somewhere dry so that creosote doesn’t accumulate on its surface. If you accidentally leave the pillow in place and start a fire, it instantly shrivels, deflates and bursts, allowing all the fumes to exit the chimney.A:We do have some installers around the country who could help you. To find out if we have a recommended installer in your area please call 1300 326 627 or pop us a message here. Doing the laundry can have a huge environmental impact, whether that be using tonnes of energy running the washing machine and tumble drier - or the pollutants that are released from the products you use. Using a microfiber filter is just one way of reducing that impact. Why not make a few more changes - we've tonnes of handy tips in our blog. It was a bit of trial and error with how much insulation to put in. I put in loads initially and then couldn’t push it through the opening of the fireplace. The idea is to put the bag far enough up the chimney that you can’t see it. Leave just the end of the material hanging down to be able to pull it down when you need to.
