I didn’t see it in the display.” The woman scowled. “I specifically asked if you had any scones, and you said you were out.”

I know this review is all over the place, but that's the way this book left me feeling... my emotions are all over the place. I'm so happy for Scar and Breeze, I love that she fit so perfectly with his family. But I'm so anxious about Burn and Cassie and I don't see how this little group of misfits is going to get a happy ever after for their family. This is Camden (Scar) and Breeze's story. I'll be honest. I wasn’t sure what I would think of it. I didn't have an instant like towards Breeze. Camden? Yes, but I've loved him since the first book. Breeze just didn't sit well with me. And I think that's because she instantly judged him. She knew he was McInver's son and just assumed he was a rich playboy with his father's deviant tendencies. You know what they say about assumptions. I also thought she was idiotic (not naive, I could overlook being naive) for putting herself in the same situation twice without thinking of the repercussions. I liked her more by the end but mostly because Camden loved her. I just really didn't. My heart was pumping hard all through this story. It was dark, gritty, and hot as hell. I loved how Camden and Breeze's connection developed and their natural instincts to trust one another. I loved the closeness of Camden and his family, and how they were all working together to find their missing loved ones, whilst treasuring the familial bonds they had already created. Honestly, I can't wait for the final book! This series is intriguing, twisty and seriously sexy! Thoroughly recommend it! I’m not a huge fan of New Adult stories and although Ella is only 17 at the beginning of the book, by the time it ends a number of years have passed which I have to say pleased me.Scar aka Camden is on the lam with brothers and determined to reunite with his missing younger brother Gourdain. For me, he is the highlight of this book. He is handsome (always a plus), a sexy Scottish Highlander (who doesn’t love a man in a kilt), ruggedly capable in most situations (he seems to save everyone), and he’s broken, the hallmark of a well-written hero (at least to me). Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love Ella’s character in this book. She has a wisdom and grit about her that it never really feels like you are reading a 17/18-year-old heroine. She easily matches Gourdain, who also has a worldliness about him. But it’s Gourdain’s struggle with himself that provides the true depth to this book. He can be frustrating at times because he makes choices counter to his heart, and it causes issues between him and Ella. However, he comes to the rescue when it’s needed and redeems himself within the story. He’s kind, broody, so sexy, and incredibly capable, even when he wraps himself in his head. If you love swoony, broken heroes, then you absolutely need to read Hero. The British author Jolie Vines is well known for her interesting and entertaining style of writing that instantly grabs the reader. Mostly writing contemporary romance novels, she really sets herself apart, giving her readers exactly what they want, while saying something unique in the process. This has seen her become a household name for many around the world, establishing a brand that is very much her own. Drawing many influences from a range of different fellow authors too, she’s definitely an inspired novelist with a lot to offer. I didn't fly through this book as fast as the others. I found it a bit slow. I think that's because 1). It focuses almost solely on Scar and Breeze. We don't get a lot of the family that I've come to love. 2) It's setting up for the final book in the series.

The chemistry between Struan and Thea was pretty hot. I was completely down with his hot demanding dirty talk… With a sound of frustration, the woman stormed out of the shop, followed closely by the male half of the couple. The bells rang merrily as the door closed behind them, as if celebrating their absence. Violet I really want to give her a hug she so sweet and always thinking of everyone else before herself. However their were parts I thought could have been explained a little bit better and parts that using common sense could have solved the problem but where would the excitement be in that…I don’t usually like love stories, but this isn’t a mushy love story. There is action, and suspense mixed in with the romance. I got hooked on this series with the very first book. A Scottish Laird meets the daughter of a rich British businessman and the fireworks begin with Book 1. In Book 2, his protege, a British Lord falls for her best friend. This book is about the younger brother of the Scottish Laird, Gordain who just happens to fall for the British Lord’s sister. That same British Lord is Gordain’s best friend. You really need to start with Book 1, and it won’t be too confusing. Then Scar steps up and takes charge. Where Struan and Sin are impulsive and fueled by anger, Scar is more level headed and serious, except with Breeze. He’s soft, considerate, and bent on protecting her. Initially published on the Kindle platform, this would first arrive in 2020 on the 15th of October to much acclaim. Setting up the fifth book in the ongoing ‘Wild Scots’ series of novels, it would feature its own steamy romances and stand-alone story. Following on thematically, the books featuring powerful Scottish men in passionate romances, and this book is no different. I really enjoyed this book and although the haven’t read the previous books in the series, I had no trouble; reading this one as a stand alone. This is Gordain and Ella’s story and it was a captivating one. Gordain is best friend’s with Ella’ brother James and he comes to her rescue when James asks him to help Ella escape from their evil uncle Richard.

A book with a plus sized heroine and the huge, tormented, protective Scot who would die to save her? Yeah, I’m in. Add in a dose of the hottest smut I’ve ever read (whoops my biggest kink) and you’ve got Sin, the second book in the Dark Island Scots series. I went from that naïve girl on the boat, dreaming of stolen kisses, to the one who held the key to his prison cell. This book was equal parts the romance between Scar and Breeze and the continuation of the family's story that started with Ruin. There is something about them, all of them, that will have you rooting for them. The loyalty they share, the fierce way they protect each other, the determination to figure out ANY WAY to keep their family together - heartwarming and emotional. One of the reasons I love reading romance is because I love to fall in love. I fall in love with the setting or with the story, with the hero (almost always), with the heroine, sometimes with an unexpected secondary character. For me, the hero makes or breaks a romance, and in that department, this author shines. Struan, Sin (SIN!), Scar... swoony Scots are done just perfectly in Jo Vines' world. Jolie, you good? The newest series from Jolie Vines, Dark Island Scots, is a departure from her Highlander-loving Scotsmen of her earlier series, and it’s exciting and compelling. Now, for three books, she has enticed her readers with a prolonged storyline, wrought through plot ups and downs. That she compels her readers to dive into the books of this series is a testament to her capacity to keep her readers engaged. There is just something intriguing about her characters, Struan, Sin, Scar, and Burn. This found family that is actually blood-related pulls you into the story. However, it’s the running plot through the stories that drives readers forward. By the end of Scar, the newest story, there is no telling where the overarching story is going. We left with three complex heroes finding love amid the chaos of their lives. Woven into the fabric of this series is a delectable dark erotic spirit.

So the theory I had about Breeze’s sister didn’t pan out, but that’s okay. One of the best things about Jolie Vines’ Dark Island Scots series has been her ability to keep me guessing. This has truly been the twisty-est non-paranormal romance series I’ve ever read. And did I mention it’s spicy, too? Whew! These boys know how to take care of their women!

I really enjoyed this third installment in Jolie Vines’ Marry the Scot series. The hero of this book is Gordain, younger brother of Callum, the male lead in book one. He’s also the tattooed helicopter pilot best friend to James from book two... That is the installment that laid the groundwork for this romance. It is where Gordain met James’ younger sister, Ella, and helped her escape from the clutches of her evil uncle Richard.
