About this deal

Come to the Taylor Digital Studio at 8pm to talk directly with ‘Electronic Life’ - a live AI entity who will respond to your thoughts and queries on new technology and art making. Carleen De Sözer is a self-taught artist born in Birmingham, England in the late seventies. Her only destination was to live the life of an artist. The best art usually discusses the artist’s perspective, worldview and experiences. I love looking at art that tells me a story, whether it is about love, family or tragedy. It is even more moving when art is authentic and I think that is the most important thing about the creation of art. Is it authentic to the artist’s experiences of life? Can anyone join BB courses, even if they know nothing about art? Although there are darker, lighter, and differently colored varieties that grow naturally in the world, most plant foliage is green because green-colored foliage most efficiently absorbs the wavelengths of light that aid plants in the energy-producing process of photosynthesis.

Carleen’s distinct style can be seen across London. Creating large Murals has exposed her work and personality to street art lovers worldwide. Wumi “Wumzum” Olaosebikan is a Nigerian-British illustrator originating out of East London. A muralist and animator who specialises in character & world design that subjects play on London living with an afrofuture lens. Wumzum’s craft has taken him across 4 continents and takes inspiration from a range of sources: the visual language of comics; the interactivity of video games; the dynamism of graffiti; and the fluidity of the London Jazz scene. These are all elements that Wumi has had heavy involvement in as a creator. The natural features of flowers and plants reflect their evolutionary adaptations that have developed over time to increase their chances of survival and reproduction. Sunlight is emitted in a spectrum of wavelengths from long to short (from radio waves and infrared to the visible spectrum that we can see with our eyes and finally, the super-short wavelength ultraviolet light, x-rays, and gamma rays). Imagine if Baz Lurhmann teamed up with Tim Burton and the pair reworked Vincent Van Gogh’s famous sunflower masterpiece and you might come close to a visual representation of the ‘Moulin Rouge’ cultivar of the genus.

This rare orchid earned its name because it apparently resembles a bat in flight, but it looks more like an extra-terrestrial creature if you ask me.

I never had a non-white lecturer while doing my BA at university. The first time I did, I was doing my PGcert in Art, Design and Communication and was taught by the founder of Shades of Noir, Aisha Richards, on the inclusive practice unit. She was able to free history and art practices through an intersectional lens which was really affirming for me and made me realise there is space for me in the creative world. Succulents are famously easy houseplants to care for and Haworthia is no exception – but the chunky, interconnected segments of its foliage certainly are exceptional. Courses are delivered live on Zoom and to create an interactive teaching environment, learning material will be provided to registered participants prior to each class. Participants will also be able to access the learning platform which includes the recordings of the live lectures and learning material for 90 days after the last live class.Electronic Life was devised in collaboration between Ed D’Souza and Sunil Manghani from Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton with members of Element, Tate Collective Producers, and Tom Savage at Alan Turing Institute. The roster of tutors is so exciting and I’m already programming for semester two. The masterclasses are going to be more hands-on and I will be working with emerging and established artists and creatives so that they can share their creative practice in a formal way with their peers. I am personally so excited to learn from the tutors that have been selected to teach a course, two of whom include: The best thing is it doesn’t demand any care. With just water and sunlight, you are free to enjoy its dark color throughout the year. Their trailing habit means they’ll look especially fetching when dangled over the side of a hanging basket. 24) Persian Lily

Elsewhere, London-based artists Rebecca Bellantoni and Elsa James – both known for driving social change through their artistic practice – will be performing for attendees. For an idea of what to expect, Bellantoni’s work typically explores the philosophical aspects of reality, as tied up with the experiences of marginalised communities; James’ focus lies in issues of race, gender, diaspora, and belonging, with a specific emphasis on disrupting cultural stereotypes.

Ayesha Feisal is a British-Sierra Leonean artist who lives in London. Her artworks are inspired by human behaviour and the mind. She is interested in psychology and explores the psyche using the human form. Feisal draws influence from expressionist and futurist movements and uses intense colours to heighten emotions. Her pieces depict characters who transcend circumstances. She finds inspiration in consciousness, universal law, balance, and truth. The scarlet flowers of this hibiscus cultivar survive for just one day, but the blooming season outlasts that of many others of its genus.
