About this deal

Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. Finish: Long. The dried fruits reign. A little bit of vegetal “bramble” appears, and fades with the rest. Not bitter, but not particularly sweet either. The smoothness makes the 105 drinkable at cask strength, but I suggest adding a little water to fully explore its great depth. The finish is a revelation, remarkably smooth despite its strength. It delivers a delightful warmth, enveloping the senses with a lingering smokiness that dances on the palate. This smokiness, however, is perfect balance, creating a very rounded and satisfying conclusion to the tasting journey

Glenfarclas means ‘Valley of the Green Grassland’ and the spring water, which ensures the verdant green grass, is essential to the distinct flavour of Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Whisky. It bubbles up, crystal clear, from the underlying granite on the slopes of the Speyside mountain, Ben Rinnes, to supply the distillery below. Hazelnuts, leather, dried dark fruit, copper, orange peels, baking spice, cocoa, graham, and a touch of ash. Blogroll

Comments: The 105 is a very respectable NAS offering does not disappoint. I found the sample that I reviewed today to be quite a bit better than a dram of Glenfarclas 105 that I sipped a few years ago at Highland Stillhouse pub in Oregon City. FINAL SCORE: 87/100 The distillery is located in Ballindalloch, in Speyside, an area around the River Spey. The name “Glenfarclasss” means “valley of the green grass,” and the distillery, comprising of six stills, is the largest on Speyside.

Finish: Long and decadent, it vacillates between sweet and leathery notes. The death is hard to pinpoint due to the length of this finish. Resurrections of dried fruits, white chocolate, and sherry continue to enchant the senses, albeit sporadically. Drinkers and enthusiasts rant and rave about the “Top 10 Best Sherry Bombs” or claim the best whisky in the world can be categorised as a “Sherry Bomb.” But what is a Sherry Bomb? Well I’ve seen them described as “whiskies that are matured either exclusively or for the majority of their maturation period in sherry casks (most often mostly first-fill).” An additional caveat would be that some are cask strength, but this is not always the case. Comments: Good gawd, the recent batch is surprisingly fresh, and not over-oaked in the least. It has more power than either the 21-year-old, or the 25-year-old, and that is good news when it comes to depth and complexity. Why? Because this old-timer has enough oomph to dazzle one’s senses without gettin’ bossy. The journey is transcendent, to be sure. After your glass is empty, you almost feel as though you’ve been left in the middle of the desert without a ride home. “Where am I?”Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). Glenfarclas launches its first Flower of Scotland gift tin which becomes a great success and increases sales by 30%. Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength is somewhat of an oddity in the distillery’s currentrange. It is the only one which doesn’t presently carry an age-statement (however the Internet suggests that it is at least 8 year old). Similarly to fellow cask strength sherried heavy weight Aberlour A’bunadh, as a vatting of casks there are reports of batch variance for time to time, but that’s the nature of the beast when it comes to vattings. It’s bottled at a hefty 60% ABV is naturally coloured, and although not specified, I am presuming is probably non chill-filtered. If you are out a card is left, with an instruction to call the local depot to re-arrange delivery. Alternatively, you can inform us to “leave safe”, “leave with a neighbour”, “leave in garage” etc. and we will pass this information onto the courier. Please remember that, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, alcohol will only be left with persons over 18 Years Old. Fruity, nutty, sherried profile. What’s not to like about this? Some might say the proof (120), but that’s easily fixed with a splash of water if it’s too much. Others might say the price, but then all whisky is expensive these days, and it’s only getting more so. So I ask again… what’s not to like?

Finish: Extends into the whole mouth and throat, but remains on the tongue longest with waves of caramel and marshmallow nougat; oak is very faint yet omnipresent; deep and complex richness hovers in the balance, never committing fully to sweetness or to nuttiness. One is left with a slight hint of coffee beans. Records the default button state of the corresponding category & the status of CCPA. It works only in coordination with the primary cookie. First references to the Glenfarclas distillery were found before 1791. In 1836 it was granted a license. At that time, it was owned by Robert Hay. It was then bought by John Grant in 1865 and today is still owned by the Grant family.George, son of John, is the sixth generation of the family and the company's Brand Ambassador. George joined the family business in 2000 after working for another Scotch Whisky Distiller, and the Glenfarclas distributor in Hong Kong; Fine Vintages (Far East) Ltd. George is passionate about Glenfarclas and particularly enjoys introducing whisky lovers to the older expressions of Glenfarclas, those distilled by his grandfather and watched over by his father. Our Service is an online platform which provides Members with information (e.g. bottle facts, market-indices, market values and prices) on (mostly) whisky and allows Members to add information to the platform. We do not sell, nor does the Service provide any option to buy, any alcoholic products. Comments: The ten year is not my favorite whisky in its class, but it isn’t bad either. I would certainly rank it above quite a few mid-priced blends. I was tempted to try the sample with ice, but I’m just not an ice type of guy, so I couldn’t bring myself to do it. This said, I think it would be delightful on ice for those who enjoy a chilled glass of whisky. FINAL SCORE: 83/100 Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). Upon the first sip, the whisky unveils its character: dry and assertive, it swiftly evolves, revealing a luxurious spiciness that harmonises perfectly with a subtle touch of oak
