In timer mode, you can see what time the timer was originally set for on another line below the countdown. The speaker plays a different sound for the alarm and the timer, so you know which one is going off without looking at the screen. Also the Indiglo light flashes.

It’s kind of like buying a budget car – it’ll get you from point A to point B, but don’t expect the luxury features. You’re paying for a basic, durable watch that tells time and does a little bit of lap counting. There are so many little touches that make it clear the designers at Timex really take pride in their work. Here are my favorites: The AM and PM appear in the same place on the display; there is just one little segment that lights up to turn the P into an A. The actual display is crisp, with a good dark contrast on the numerals and no clutter. Being function-rich, it certainly offers the wearer all the uses of any other digital watch at most price points. No, smart watches don’t count. Let me be straight with you – if you’re a beginner or someone who just needs a basic watch for the occasional swim or run, then yeah, the Ironman Classic 30 could be your buddy. It’s durable, long-lasting (I mean, a 10-year battery life is nothing to scoff at), and won’t break the bank. In a way, perfect.
