About this deal

The game is broken up into several types of levels scattered across a map over the world. On each level the player must use demolition and go through puzzles to achieve the goal. The player usually begins in a demolition vehicle, but can exit the vehicle as the Pilot. Carrier Levels Machkovech, Sam (August 3, 2015). "Rare Replay review: Incomplete, but still plenty of timeless gaming smashes". Ars Technica. Archived from the original on August 5, 2015 . Retrieved August 21, 2015. RADAR POINT: Find one on an island across the bridge in the pool, along the carrier’s path. Find the second within the castle to the northeast.

If you’re a completionist, this game may frustrate you. Hidden under the meat of the main game, there are a lot of collect-a-thon objectives. The optional objectives include: destroying all of the buildings, activating all of the RDU’s, and rescuing all of the trapped hostages. There are a lot of hidden areas lying in the middle of empty fields, but since the camera doesn’t like to show anything useful, they’re easy to miss. To add to this, there are a number of optional side missions that are never quite as fun as the main story missions. Of course, the key word here is optional, so there’s no use getting upset about features that you can just pass on. Drive across the bridge and over the hill. Boost your way to J-Bomb; hop on in and destroy the three high-rises in the center to clear the path. You can also fly on top of the cliff to the west and find a square that you can fall through. Follow the path to find the red car and a plethora of RDU’s. I really enjoyed Blast Corps. It’s certainly a unique game design, and the execution is quite solid. It may not be the longest or most memorable game, but its fun while it lasts. It really set the stage in terms of what to expect from Rare. I’d really love to see a current generation sequel to it. I feel it would benefit greatly from modern physics technology. Overall, Blast Corps is a GOOD game, and one that I recommend adding to your N64 library. As soon as the level starts, with the initial camera angle you will see a barn right in front of you (North east of you if you'd like). Go shoot this barn to reveal the Cyclone Suit, you will be able to take it from here! Apart from a few RDU's that are behind you when you start, there is nothing hidden on this level so just follow the streets around destroying everything. When you're in the Cyclone Suit there are a few places you can stand that will make the camera angle come very low, you can use this to your advantage to scan around for things you may have missed. At one point in my life, Rare was my favourite game developer. Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country, Perfect Dark; they were all extremely quality titles that I enjoyed thoroughly. It’s probably because of Rare that I became more aware of the developers that make the games I play. For some reason, though, I never really got into Blast Corps. I played it during the software starvation that usually comes with a newly released console, but it didn’t set my world on fire. It wasn’t until I finished college when my roommate cited it as one of his favourite games on the Nintendo 64 that I finally gave it some attention. Polak, Steve (July 19, 1997). Best Games of All Time". Electronic Gaming Monthly. No.100. November 1997. p.104. Note: Contrary to the title, the intro to the article explicitly states that the list covers console video games only, meaning PC games and arcade games were not eligible. Drive down the hill. Smash through the metal barn, then the adjacent house. Keep driving northwest and get through the gas station. Go through the pond and get the next metal shed, the house, and the big, red barn. This mission is just meant to acclimate you to the game play. No challenge, just more training. Crane- As the only stationary object that can be controlled, the crane is used to move around vehicles and explosives. Put your loot onto the lift and then enter the tower. The lift will ascend automatically. Use A to push the lift further out and use B to pull it closer. Use R to drop the lift and Z to lift it.Much like Cromlech Court, this level is pretty much just another free one. The level is Argent Towers again, just without the extra stuff and with the relatively easy Cyclone Suit. Mercury: Just a rather regular race, the vehicle choice doesn't even matter. Just make sure you don't crash into the middle island to waste time. Dagger Pass: Take your time with the timing! You don't have to rush like crazy through this, so don't. The first one is right in front of you, with the second one down to the right. Continue this way to find the third one, then head up the screen to find the fourth. Continue up to find the castle, continue past it up the cliff side to find the fifth one hidden up here. Head down from here to find number 6, then just follow the ground around to find seven and eight. Beacon: Inside the castle.

To do this, you’re provided with a large number of demolition vehicles which range from straightforward (like a bulldozer) to bizarre (like a car that destroys buildings by ramping into them). Most of the vehicles are very unique and require a different strategy to get the most out of them. Some of them are very easy to use, while others require a lot of practice. Although many of the levels force you to use a specific vehicle, every now and then you’ll be required to switch between a few of them to accomplish your goal. Other times, you can find a simpler vehicle stashed away somewhere on a particularly difficult level, which will make things easier for you, if you can find them. The Sideswipe is an articulated vehicle that destroys its targets by using extending rams on the left and right sides of its rear section. This can be done a limited number of times, and 'ammunition' can be collected on the relevant levels, in a similar way to the missiles for the Ballista. To prevent this, the government hires the demolition company known as Blast Corps - founded by several former military soldiers who were stationed in the base the missiles came from, until an accident involving one of their members led the others to desert their post. Using a variety of different machines to assist them, Blast Corps assigns a new recruit to help clear the carrier's path, ensuring it can get past areas safely, while at the same time seeking out a group of missing scientists needed to conduct the safe detonation of the missiles. Dealing with an array of difficult situations, Blast Corps manages to prevent catastrophe, finding the scientists and putting an end to the threat from the missiles. Before each race level, the player can choose the vehicle they will use. Here, vehicles are only available if they have been found and driven on one of the Carrier levels. Some race levels restrict the choice of vehicle.Rignall, Jaz (August 3, 2015). "Rare Replay Xbox One Review: The Ultimate Retro Compilation". USgamer. Archived from the original on August 6, 2015 .
