About this deal

A 500ml tin will provide a coat of up to 7m 2. For a durable finish, a minimum of 2 coats is required, so your 500ml tin should provide full coverage for 3.5m 2 on non-porous surfaces like laminate or metal. A 750ml tin will provide a single coat of up to 12.5m2. For a durable finish, a minimum of 2 coats is required, so your 750ml tin should provide full coverage for just over 6m2 on non-porous surfaces like laminate or metal. Limited Edition 500ml tins will provide a single coat of up to 8.5m2.

Start early in the morning to give the door maximum drying time before you have to replace the door furniture. Apply with a good quality brush or roller. Also suitable for spraying - thin with up to 15% tap water and apply additional coat(s). I’m not so delighted with the finish though. The first coat went on OK but then it went all lumpy and bobbly: imagine dipping gloss paint into cotton wool, and dragging it around, and you’ll get an image of how bad the finish was. I fully accept that this may have been user error, but given how difficult I found this paint to work with, I can’t recommend it. Our uPVC door with one coat of Zinsser All Coat Exterior Satin paint looks fine. After two coats, it’s gone horribly lumpy. It looks a bit like wood grain. How I Solved the Door Paint ProblemIf your door is exposed to the elements, and not enclosed in a porch, then you will need a suitable durable and weatherproof paint. For ease of application and speed, a self-priming paint is perfect. Many paints require a primer, which means buying extra products as well as adding time to the project. Self-priming paints – like the entire Frenchic range – cuts out that hassle and expense. What about colour? Use masking tape to cover any fittings on or surrounding the door that you don’t want to get paint on. It is also worth covering any glass panels with cardboard or polythene. Reseal tin after use. Clean up any spills immediately with water. Wash brushes/rollers in warm, soapy water.

Porous, or ‘thirsty’, surfaces like bare wood or MDF, tend to absorb paint meaning additional coats are likely to be required to achieve a durable finish. In this case, your 500ml tin will provide less than 3.5m 2 of full coverage. If you apply the paint too thinly, durability may be affected. That said, it’s important to know how to paint a wooden front door before you get started. In this post, we’ll cover all bases with tips on what you’ll need, preparing your surface and painting the door for the best results. Choosing the right paint Finishing Coatγια επιπλέ0ν προστασία σε ντουλάπια κουζίνας, έπιπλα μπάνιου, δάπεδο, και τραπεζαρίες.

Put down little dishes of bicarbonate of soda to help absorb the paint smell. A few halved onions also do the same. I did both and I think it really helped the smell to go. Also suitable for interior wood, concrete and most laminate floors with correct application – please note that maintenance may be required in these situations. Avoid painting in direct sunlight, only when the air and surface temperatures are between 10 oC and 32 oC and humidity is less than 85%. Do not apply if, in the following 48 hours, there is likelihood of rain, frost, fog, condensation or if the temperature is likely to drop lower than 10 oC. This means that certain times of the year are unsuitable for painting outside projects - as a general rule of thumb Summer is recommended.

I went to our local decorator centre and asked for advice. The recommended Zinsser All Coat Exterior Satin paint with built in primer and gave me an exciting colour chart for me to choose from. They mixed it to my chosen candyfloss pink and I am delighted with the colour. Self-priming – no primer or undercoat required for any surface except bare metal (in which case use a suitable metal primer) When your door is dry, very carefully peel off the masking tape around the windows (use a craft knife to cut it at the edges if it seems to be pulling the paint away).Choosing the right date and time to paint is also important because it impacts how well your paint will apply and cure (harden). Don’t paint outdoors if, for the next 48 hours, one of the following applies: My first piece of advice for anyone considering painting their uPVC door is to choose your paint wisely. I sadly did not choose the best paint, so I want you to benefit from my mistakes! I recommend Frenchic Al Fresco Paint which you can find here. Below you’ll find the one I used for this door that was a total pain, but did work well! The Paint I Don’t Recommend To Paint Your Front Door
