About this deal

Delilah yearns to return home, convinced that only amongst her own people, and under the holy guidance of the Lord’s revealed prophet, can her Satan-spawned soul be truly saved. Conditioned her entire life to believe she is a witch... a life-long temptress… the devil’s whore... Delilah increasingly resents her beautiful face, her shapely body and her sensuous effect on men. But when a man of the motorcycle club—a deeply sinful yet stunningly beautiful man—is charged with her care, Delilah begins to see that this dangerous and moralless sinner from the 'outside' may offer her something she did not know could truly exist: unconditional love. Kisa becomes obsessed with him. Yearns for him. Craves his touch. Needs to possess this mysterious man...this man they call Raze. Vivienne Charles fantasizes about being taken by force, a desire that frightens and shames her as a survivor of sexual assault. Jonah Marks has his own fantasies about force, and when he approaches Vivienne and suggests a mutually beneficial relationship that will satisfy both their fantasies, they enter into a relationship that is more than a little twisted. But when emotions and past secrets catch up with them, everything starts to unravel. I loved Asking for It because Pace’s discussion of rape fantasies, speaking through the voice of Vivienne’s therapist, was unapologetically honest. Comfort Object by Annabel Joseph One of the book’s greatest strengths is its disability representation and person-centered language. The heroine, Harper, has a disability, but she is not defined by it. Her disability is but one facet of her identity — she is a force of nature, who in addition to fearlessness, courage, and a multitude of other traits, has cerebral palsy. This person-centered approach is so important, for far too often, books and movies will emphasize an individual’s disability over all else (i.e., their disability becomes their defining characteristic). The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes. The man who protects her with a breath-taking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart.

This freaking series. I swear. This is the first of three books in the Dark Duet series, and it is something. Caleb is a man intent on revenge. Roberts It’s an enemies to lovers story with lots of non-consensual acts where two people bond over similar trauma.

Mafia romance books make the best dark romance books because you can really play into the dark underworld and the morally grey or completely antiheroes of the story who like to do bad, very bad things. I’m actually surprised that I read this one because it has some triggers warnings that I steer clear of but I admit that I was hooked from the author’s note where she talked about her focus on religious studies and how she came to meet real survivors of cults. My brother’s girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close.
