First, thank you for your kind words. I have just started this blog and I have not had time to put so much stuff out there. I will soon do a small how to grow chilies also. I have tested some techniques from seeds to plant, sort of speaking. This means that eating an equally large dragon’s breath pepper would be like eating a highly spicy Carolina reaper and a habanero. It’s no surprise this pepper sits among the world’s hottest peppers as its roots, although a little murky, are super-hot studs. It’s a hybrid of a Bhut Jolokia (a.k.a. ghost pepper) and a 7 Pot Douglah (a.k.a. chocolate 7 Pot or chocolate douglah), hence the clever “Bhut-lah” name. Though, there may be another pepper in the mix leading to its murky heritage.

The name “Bhutlah” is a combination of the names of two hot peppers – “Bhut” from Bhut Jolokia and “lah” from Douglah. And then there are the chiliheads. These are people like Johnny Scoville and Smokin’ Ed Currie. They eat the hottest peppers in the world and ask for more. Do not let the name fool you – the Chocolate Bhutlah is nothing close to being a dessert dream. It is, in fact, one of the hottest peppers on the planet, named for it's chocolate color. 7 Pot Douglah - 1,853,936 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). This is by no means the hottest pepper in the world. However, it is the hottest of the habanero-type varieties. This is the baseline, a point of reference to compare to the much hotter peppers that exist. The words “floral” and “earthy” are two descriptions I see over and over when describing the Chocolate Bhutlah pepper taste. That seems to be the case for many super hot varieties. Use potting soil: Use healthy and sterile potting soil with a pH balance of roughly 6.5 to ensure healthy growth.
