I was grabbed by the world build in the first like 10% of the book. The next 50% proceeded to make me roll my eyes and make fumes come out of my ears :))) From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her Blood and Ash series. Right off the bat, I immediately recognized the difference between the writing style in this book and in the author’s other works (the last book I read by her being Starlight). Although I love that series, I have to say that the writing worked a lottt better for me here. It just seemed much more mature (which makes sense given this is a NA/adult novel instead of YA). I personally love it when characters curse and speak freely and plainly in my books —they just seem more relatable to me once they curse lmao— which is probably why this worked so well for me.

And I don’t even wanna touch on the whole love triangle situation because it infuriated me like nothing else I have ever experienced.This was bad. The writing is bad, the pace is bad, the characters are bad, the story had so much potential but was ruined by all the mentioned things. This needs an editor that will probably cut 80% of the book.
