My Node2i behaves exactly like this as well with my D90SE (and apologies for rectifying this old post). Topping E50 connected via USB directly to Roon Core as Audio Output, thereby via PCM output to Integrated Amp. Advice above is best for current situation. Tidal are working on making their desktop app tidal connect capable so if you are prepared to wait, you could save money buying a streamer and instead use your phone to control tidal on the pc and leave it wired to the dac.

With an auto on/off function for all inputs, the E50 is a true “set it and forget it” DAC. It automatically turns on and decodes whichever input is receiving a signal, and when it hasn’t received a signal for sixty seconds, it automatically turns off. I think i finally found resonably priced good dac that satisfy my needs. Just could anyone confirm here two things, would appreciate: Looks like topping DACs are not the only victim, saw another Cambridge Audio DacMagic 200M with similar situation.Until now, I mainly used E30 and D10s D10 Balanced for DAC, but I bought the newly released E50 because it can also play MQA. You can call it Upsampling or unfolding it's basically like the pcm version of what DSD did with "noise" pushed it in the inaudible range. And Mqa seems to be using a fast roll-off Filter. And yes, am aware the specs of the NAS is not up to Roon Requirement but there’s only minimum amount of traffic and CPU usage in the NAS and so far, everything’s working fine when running Roon, apart from the E50 MQA issue. I would temporarily turn off DSP just to rule it out. That’s the only spot you’re seeing a green light. I have the Node 2i and and am thinking of buying a Topping D90SE. Having read this thread, I am still not completely sure if I can fully use the Toppings MQA capabilites when using the Node:s output. Please enlighten me.

Shure KSE1200, Sony IER-Z1R, CA Atlas, CA Solaris 2020, Ety ER4XR, Airpods Pro, PowerBeats, Monster Turbine Pro Gold I have an SMSL DAC that is also not “recognized” by Roon in the sense that it is not Roon Tested. It shows up as an “Unidentified Device”. But Exclusive mode is a USB protocol thing, I am pretty sure, regardless of who makes the DAC. If I have the E50 connected to my PC, everything works fine, decoding & rendering can be done all by the E50, or decoding be done by the Core while the rendering be done by the E50. (MQA vs OFS). For anyone following, I got a second E50, and have had 0 issues using it the past couple of days. Looks like my first one was a defective unit.E50 has full balanced TRS output and single ended RCA output. You can choose "TRS only"，“RCA only" or "TRS+RCA”output to meet different usages in the multiple systems. E50 has preamplifier function so you can control the output volume on the remote control. This will provide great convenience when connected to a power amplifier or monitor speakers. And also help you leave the budget for a preamplifier. Goals of this setup is to go more minimalist in use. My wife does not care for the AVR setup currently and gets frustrated with all the inputs that need to be juggled and I can't say I blame her. There is comparison in youtube between su 8 and e50. Even thru youtube you can hear that sound opens up a bit with e50, more height. And here people say you can't hear the difference. What's that all about? Even if the measurement data of amirm is good, there are very few products that operate correctly according to the product SPEC. That way MQA first unfold will be done by Roon, DSP volume adjustment applied, but MQA signaling will be preserved via RAAT transfer to the DAC for the final unfold and render blah blah.

And is that because a) Bluesound wants it to work that way and forces it or b) that's how Tidal behaves on the Node or c) because the DAC is not actually capable of that first unfold over coax and the Node knows that so it does it. Or d) some other reason? I'm not trying to get full MQA decode/unfold (I don't have a PC/streamer with USB to hook to it) and I know it's lossy so that's not my goal. I'm not here to debate that or sound quality. I'm just trying to understand the signal path and the process of what's happening to the file, and what the WIIM + E50 are actually playing. Before I got the E50, I had the WIIM Pro hooked to my Marantz SR5015 and the readout would say 96kHz and 88.2kHz on these files, not drop to 44.1 on the 88.2 files like below.With ES9068AS chip and careful design, E50 provides a distortion as low as 0.00009% and a dynamic range of 126dB, providing you with perfect sound quality. This also makes E50 suitable for applications: high- fidelity PC-HIFI system, mobile phone/tablet OTG, CD player/turntable external DAC, digital broadcasting external DAC, TV DAC and so on. Coaxial and Optical(Toslink) also has good performance, they not only supports 24bit192kHz PCM, but also supports Dop DSD64 and MQA rendering. That's great to hear about the balanced and unbalanced working at the same time. That will make integrating the sub much easier. I would make sure the Topping is in “Exclusive Mode” (under device setup in Roon for this DAC). Roon won’t do MQA without it.
