About this deal

Dawson writes in a narrative style, drawing the reader into the story with little details that may or may not have happened. Her storytelling flow keeps the book easy to read; however, some might find the style distracting from the facts of the cases. I'm not really sure what I should be taking from this book other than hoping someone else writes a better one about Heinrich so we can get a clearer understanding of what he did. Holmes and Watson often carry pistols with them to confront criminals—in Watson's case, his old service weapon (probably a Mark III Adams revolver, issued to British troops during the 1870s). [139] Holmes and Watson shoot the eponymous hound in The Hound of the Baskervilles, [140] and in "The Adventure of the Empty House", Watson pistol-whips Colonel Sebastian Moran. [141] In " The Problem of Thor Bridge", Holmes uses Watson's revolver to solve the case through an experiment.

During Heinrichs most productive years of research and development in the 1930's to 1940's he had many competitors, most falling way behind his abilities. However he had to face these people and contradict them in many court hearings. It took Heinrich many years of testimony and proving his forensic methods to win out as a qualified scientific forensic expert. The titles, written in six different languages, would intrigue any intellectual. Blood, Urine, Faeces and Moisture: A Book of Tests, read one cover. Arsenic in Papers and Fabrics, read another. He even owned a tattered dictionary of slang used by criminals. They seemed unrelated, a cache of mismatched textbooks in the library of a brilliant madman.
