Her first appearance in a feature film was in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-winning family/sci-fi “ET the Extra-Terrestrial” in 1982 – credited as “Pretty Girl”, Eleniak appeared in the scene when she was kissed by Elliott (Henry Thomas) in the classroom. Her image from a promotional shot for 'Into the Blue' was used by the magazine without her consent, which she contends gave the appearance that she was featured in the issue in a 'nude pictorial'.
