i don't really play piano often, its a nice book for reference and framework of jazz harmony but applying it to my instrument can be a bit tricky. Accessible to novices of all ages, these 21 easy-to-play melodies for the piano include George Gershwin's I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise, Alexander's Ragtime Bandby Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern's They Didn't Believe Me, and Bethenaby Scott Joplin. Another Berklee College of Music jazz education legend, Alan Dawson taught the likes of Terri Lynne Carrington, Tony Williams and Clifford Jarvis. As the title suggests, this is very much about harmony, so don’t expect much information on linear jazz improvising here: this is probably of most use to chordal instruments. tricky pieces from Bartók, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy, Grieg, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Schumann and Scriabin.Gershwin was considered one of the best pianists of the 20th century, with his music considered to be the soundtrack to the optimistic world of early 20th-century America. I’m full of admiration for the many kinds of knowledge and skill both in the music, but also in making such a nice clear lucid presentation of it.
