About this deal

Even Rupert Everett exudes NO emotion whatsoever but at least he's off screen most of the time, and doesn't come off completely rookie when he does make an appearance. A lot of thoughts were repeated more then twice and the inner monologues were lengthy and repetitive. The novel is well plotted, with short, alternating chapters that shift in time so that the story unravels quickly—leaving a trail of tantalizing clues to follow. Clare in Penzance and Howell's School Llandaff before going on to Miss Kerr-Sanders' Secretarial College. It was a bit like it had been dubbed, (and I really do think some of the actors' voices were changed) even though they were clearly speaking English.

She asked Richard many times if he really had remained single until her, and he reassured her every time. I also really liked how each of them had such extreme impressions of the other but when they finally meet, they realise that everything they thought to be true was not. It's multi-POV, third person, where the various POVs you get are all women entangled in deceitful marriages, or flirting with disaster, or investigating a mysterious death. She’s paying for it now, pregnant, scared, and living in an isolated cottage with her jealous husband, Nick.Joe's father, the eminent retired surgeon William O'Loughlin has been admitted to intensive care with catastrophic head injuries. While the relationship between the three main characters was fairly obvious to me from pretty early on, I still enjoyed the drama and suspense of it all and all the twists and turns!

Book review: The Other Wife by Michael Robotham - Debbish Book review: The Other Wife by Michael Robotham - Debbish

The writing got better by the end and I was happy to see a surprise "bad guy" turn up to end the story. Claire is a young university professor, in her early thirties and fell in love with Richard, head over heels, when they met. I’m not sure why I’d become a bit jaded with Joe but this book was a revelation on a number of levels. Their secrets and lies are ready to explode, and then one shocking event will bring them together, certain to make their lives changes forever. It would have been more prudent to pay attention to something as large as mortgaging their house, but she was born in very much a “man’s world” and really, if he wasn’t having a proper relationship with Claire, he could have hidden an affair much easier. Unfortunately within 10mins i was wanting to back out due to the dated and 'straight to TV' quality, plus the cringeworthy acting.
